I hope this is true Basically saying next week their will be new PS3s, 40gb being 299.99 a White one and a Black one. 80gb will be 449.99 only Black. So if you were considering buying a PS3 this week, maybe wait until next week to see how much truth is behind it.

40gb wont have backwards compatability and less usb ports/memory card reader, so yea its kinda gimped.

I'm not to sure if the backwards compatibility means PS1 games because the PS3 can play PS1 games right just not PS2? could mean that. But the no memory card reader I missed that part, kind of stupid lol.

current 40gb cant play ps2 games at all, has no memory card reader, and has 2 usb ports instead of 4. thats really the only diff.

Sorry huge picture.. but yea, 60gb hard to find. And 80gb plays most of ps2 library.

You'll won't be seeing it until MGS4 launches at the earliest. Sony has put out a patent for the white ceramic PS3 though, that'll land in a short time. But the 299 price point? yeah right.

Bigger hard drives are about $60 now too. Unless backwards compatability is super important, there's no reason not to save a shit ton of money on the 40GB.

LATE EDIT: Or just buy a system without a HD on ebay for about $120 and save yourself even more money.

All my fav games, FF's, Hitman: Blood Money and MGS series all work just fine.. And firmware is released to fix existing problems. I expect it will only have problems with games that are rarer and not mainstream.

That site states a lot of the games I'm wanting to play are fine after the 2.10 update, except the God of War series which still has some audio issues during cutscenes.
