i've been told baraera by some and its dark based by others, i've noticed times when baraera won't do shit either, which is it please?

Get a white mage with bar spell effect merited. You may not see resists but you'll get the MDB effect.

Nidhogg hurricane wing does 352 damage to a BLM/WHM with Shell II and no MDB/damage reduction gear.

Pretty sure you're not going to resist Hurricane Wing no matter how hard you try, but if your WHM puts up Baraera either merited or with Blessed Briault on, the MDB should kick in.

we play with carols/barspells, never see a resist on it really; I still believe it's Dark anyway, because of added effect blind.

Shell IV/V + Dalmy + other mdb and magic dmg- gear is nice to bring to watch Nidhoggs though.

Suppose one could always go to a Nidhogg in a 330+ dark resist setup and get Carol and see if they get hit with wing; then if it doesn't work one would assume wind. /shrug

Jimmy wing = Para and he is ice base.
Timmy wing = Plague and is fire base (but what element is plague?)

Plague is disease+1, and disease is fire according to the NPC if I recall correctly.

Ouryu's wing is, of course, slow, which matches his earth base.

Also, elementals in temenos-E have en-effect on their melee hits, fire is plague, so that matches Tiamat.

tested one day all my barspells when another LS claimed nid and took forever (that bored i know)

whm shell V loves getting hit with magic ;P

i also believe it to be dark based after doing all the elemental bars seeing no change in dmg and checking with another LS whm for dmg reduction.

Or it could just ignore MDB like breath attacks, and still be wind based.

Most enfeebles match the element of mob TP moves, but many don't. Mindblast is thunder with para(ice), radiant breath is light with silence (wind) and slow (earth), magnetite cloud is earth with gravity (wind), water bomb is I'm going to guess water element and has added silence, etc.

I tested this once because I always use Barfira, which helps with breath damage. I don't have the exact numbers, but the only thing I checked was Nothing > Baraera > Baraera with Briault. Briault gives a MDB to the spell, and the damage was slightly lower.

I think the wing damage is either wind or non-elemental with additional effects because with 300+ fire resist, you won't get plagued but you still take moderate damage from the wing.
