About to go crazy (Another Video Card Problem)

So I got yet another video card, this time from a knowledgeable source. It is a HIS Radeon HD 2600 Pro. I hook it up, uninstall all my old Radeon 9600XT drivers, then install the 2600 drivers. I change the resolution back to what it previously was (1280 by 1024 pixels) and boot up PlayOnline Viewer.

It's glitched to hell. I try to log on FFXI, also completely glitched. The only way I made it to FFXI from POL is due to the fact I know the position of the buttons to get there. So I log off and think what could be wrong. So I upgrade to newest drivers from the official website. Still the same result. I next download the newest OmegaDriver for it.

Now is definitely less glitched, but POL still functions slow as hell and it won't let me start up FFXI because it gives me this error:

Picture of PlayOnline now with OmegaDrivers:

I'm not sure if when I uninstalled my Radeon 9600XT drivers I accidentally got rid of DirectX/Direct3D or what the problem is. I mean, I could log on FFXI before I had OmegaDrivers (Albeit glitched and unintelligible).

The Monitor is new LCD flat screen that had no problem running FFXI on the Radeon 9600XT so I know that isn't the problem.

I'm running out of ideas. I tried to find a "download" for Direct3D but I couldn't really find what I was looking for.

    Can anybody offer assistance here?

Re: About to go crazy (Another Video Card Problem)

An update: It appears I do have Direct3D loaded. (Found out via Catalyst Control Center) The version is 6.14.10.0510 (Not like that means anything probably). So I'm still looking for possible solutions...

I run dual monitor's and I remember POL looking exactly like that on my older monitor back with the 9600 XT. But all I had to do is drag the POL Viewer over to the newer monitor and it would go back to normal. Now it looks the same on both monitors (Have already attempted to change the primary and secondary to see if that had an effect, it did not. Also tried unplugging one of them, still the same.) So if that helps at all..

Could be problems with FFXI and ur graphics cards, and from what I can tell it probably is. Try DLing the newest DirectX and try that, other than that dunno what to give you for advice if it's a card that's not very compatible with FFXI.

Edit: Might be an issue with your motherboard too, does other games have graphic problems, if it's a case then ur card isn't compatible with your computer at all, which I would hope not.

Try uninstalling the drivers then use Driver Cleaner Pro to clean it up, then reinstall them. It comes with a step by step guide in case you need it.

No shit it's not working, you always should uninstall your old drivers first and possibly use Driver Cleaner like Cjskater said.

Install the 7.11 drivers and you should be good.

I ran across this when I built a new box for my wife... FFXI kept crashing after 30secs-5mins, and looked like crap when it did run. I could never get it stable, even using the drivers recommended by PoL. The problem we were having was with the Northbridge chipset, specifically any mobo that had a VIA Northbridge would seem to just crash FFXI, no matter what Video Card we were using.

Check the mobo, and see what Northbridge it has. Could be the problem. Hopefully not, or else it's time for a new MOBO.

start -> run -> dxdiag -> display -> make sure both are turned on.

I had that happen to me and it was because the video card wasn't shoved in tightly... serious.
