Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3

I am not seeing much talk for this game here, (maybe because this is a FF fan based board) which is astounding since everywhere I look this game is hyped. The reviews have been amazing, I almost believe it is going to be as good as SMT III. Comes out tomorrow, anyone else excited? Here is some media if you are curious.

Yes this definitely sounds awesome. On the 1up podcast they have talked about it a bunch and how awesome it is.

They accept death in order to call on their other selves "Persona's"

Watching the dog kill himself is hilarious, <3 Koromaru. Defintly my favorite character, I've finished both Persona 3 and the Add-on Persona 3: Fes. Picking up the US release tommorow still.

Picked up a copy of Eternal Punishment(Persona 2, Part 1) a few weeks ago which I've been playing slowly... very difficult game to play with a limited knowledge of Japanese ;x

You can start with 3 it's a brand new story. Revelations Persona, and 2 are linked though, I highly recommend them. Persona 3 so far is feeling like I'm watching an Anime, I kind of don't like that feeling. Compared to the other Persona games where you would dungeon crawl through very harsh and difficult fights/boss fights and get rewarded with an awesome cutscene. It's like they spoon feed people now with all this voice acting/cutscenes.

Yeah, there's a bit too much story in this. I hate reading gamefaqs and seeing people complain when a game isn't 100% voice acted too. Ever heard of an imagination/reading?

Voice acting in the US almost always sucks anyways.

This is really weird, but all four Persona 3 Soundtracks that I sniffed smelled like perfume...like really strongly, as if someone sprayed some on them. Apparently people are saying this on forums as well.

NipponIchi knows how to do good voice acting: Just leave the damn JP track in. Also Odin Sphere, which is also by Atlus. FF12 VAs were actually decent too.

Seriously, I agree. I don't see why fags like getting spoon fed cutscene after cutscene. I love the SMT series (the actual series) and the other Persona games because you dungeon crawled, fought some of the hardest fights and boss battles of all time, and you earned your rare, but very fulfilling cutscenes. I wish more games were like SMT III, just leaving you with interpretation you make of what little story they do give you, it's so fun just thinking about it.

I mean it's the same world and there are a few characters. Therefore they link, Persona 3 is an entire new world and from what I see there isn't even a Philemon. I know he was extremely weakened after the events in Persona 2, but if they don't link then why would that even apply to him? It's just so frustrating.

I agree, the JP VA weren't that much better anyway, on par with ENG easily. I think it's gotten to the point where you can tell good JP VA from bad. Only JP Voice that was good was Mercedes (it was so cute). I don't mind the VA in Persona 3, it sounds like they have to delay a bit because of the long winded way Japanese people speak.
