FFXI Sound

I've recently changed soundcards and am having the same issue so finally wonder whats up. I'm not able to hear all the sounds in 11 I should, and worst of all sometimes (randomly) when I am in sea, I am not able to hear "ability" noises at all. This does not change until I entirely restart the computer. Does anyone know whats up? I've already tried increasing via config the amount of sounds FFXI can play at once.

It's an FFXI problem. It can only play about 20 sounds at a time, max.

I have this issue in Mount Zhayloam<sp> as well, usually can be fixed by zoning in my expeirience. Also I have seen it fix it self after some time.

A similar isntance of this problem for myself is when doing a BCNM and I exit by using the portal to get back to the orb room and when i zone in I can't hear anything the the burning circle noise.

What kind of sound card you toting?

I found on my Audigy2 that environmental sounds (like the crystals in the cloisters) drown out all other sounds on the driver presets.
