    DHL Shipment Screwup

Hey guys so i ordered a new dell flat panel that got shipped last friday, well on sunday DHL handed the package off to another carrier now it appears they lost my shipment, was supposed to get it on monday and its still not here.

I'm wondering if all the horror stories online i read about DHL are true, losing packages, stealing your items and so on, have you ever had issues with this shipping company?

Also what should i do about a "Lost" $400 dell flat screen i ordered? i called DHL and they said well the package was handed off to another carrier there's nothing more we can do about it, they would not even tell me what carrier they handed it off to, sounds to me like i'm a victim of the DHL horrors i have read online.

Anyone had a similar experiance with this dick company? and what should i do about the package if it never shows up? can Dell or my bank do something about this or did i get totally dicked out of $400 here?

I've had two laptops shipped through DHL both valued at way more than $400, and they arrived perfectly fine and a few days early. It almost sounds like someone is dicking with you from the details of your story. Was there insurance on the package?

Not sure if dell insures their shipments or not, from what ive seen in the past few minutes of searching online, apparently the DHL office here closed and the closest one is about 100 miles down the road, i read that one guy that lives here had a dell package shipped via DHL and never received it, supposedly they handed it off to the post office but after they "handed it off" it was never seen again.

The post office never got a shipment via DHL from what the guy was saying but dell did eventually replace the lost items, im wondering why DHL even ships items to an area that dosent even have a distro center here.

Edit: heres what the DHL tracing deal shows, i know it shows 10/13 was when they forwarded it, but the result appeared sunday night well before monday.

Call Dell, it's their responsibility to get your product to you.

Correct. You are not liable until you physically recieve the package and sign for it. Even if DHL screws up, Dell will cover their ass.

Just got off the phone with dell, they said they have never heard of DHL doing this and will contact them to figure it out, also said that if it does not arrive by friday to call them back to figure out how to replace it.

So i guess its just a waiting game at this point.

They handed it off to the post office (you must live in the middle of nowhere). The post office didn't do any deliveries on Monday because it was Columbus Day.

It might take an extra day, too. At least in Iowa when a company (UPS, Fedex, DHL, etc) gives the post office a package, they give it to the processing center that handles most of the junk mail. Usually the junk mail plants are in a large city. And usually the only time a company gives the post office their package is when the customer is outside of their usual routes. It's possible it'd have to go from the junk mail plant to a main processing plant closer to where you are, and then delivered like normal from there.

I'd expect it today or tomorrow.

Edit: Oh, and the post office doesn't really scan packages. So it'll just appear with no warning.

Had this happen to me on some t-shirts I ordered, DHL handed it off to USPS because I live in the middle of nowhere, I wouldn't worry about it

I had a letter overnighted to me via DHL and they delivered it to the wrong address on my street. It was an extremely important letter I had to have. I called and they told me they delivered it and that's all they could do. Turns out the driver had a case of dyslexia, because a neighbor from a few blocks down brought it to me a few hours later. The address on the letter was correct, the driver was just an idiot.

Lol odd they would send it to the post office, and i dont live in the middle of nowhere lol, city of 130,000, never had an issue with fedex or ups, i guess its just dhl's way of delivering an item if theres no dhl office here, kind of does piss you off though they cant tell you what they did with it.

And yeah adult life, gotta love it, seems like a shitty way of doing business imo though, time for work, you guys have fun now.

The delivery guy that used to pick stuff up from us was a prick. My wife has had issues with their customer service reps also. I don't recall the specifics, but if I remember there was a problem where the driver insisted that some form was filled out before he'd take the items, and cop a 'tude because for some crazy reason, my wife doesn't have DHL forms laying around the house to fill out before the driver arrived. I believe customer service wouldn't send her any via the mail, either. Bottom line is the guy was a dick because he had to wait a minute for her to fill out the form. Then I believe there were other problems she encountered with them losing stuff, and it taking a really long time to get to the destination. We stopped using them a while ago.

My experience with DHL began and ended with the time Dell sent me back my laptop. I lived not 2 miles from the distribution facility in my town at the time and they refused to deliver it to my address regardless if I could be there to sign or not. They had me come to them at 7 at night to pickup my RMA'ed laptop... which completely defeats the fucking purpose of paying someone to deliver it to you.

Everytime my packages come via DHL they hand it off to the post office and I always get it w/o any problem, but then again my city gets mail on Sunday instead of Saturday.

They "lost" my laptop, and "found" it a week after.
For days they basically told me that they "don't know" what happened to the shipment. It was so fucking annoying.
