    Too Human

anyone play the demo for this yet? I just downloaded it today off xbox live, was awesome.

Kinda reminded me of a 3-D diablo-meets-devil may cry (sorta), with gun/sword air combos and classes/skill trees and ridiculous amounts of loot (I think i got maybe 30 different things in 30 minutes of gameplay). The story seems pretty epic too, like this crazy technological twist on Norse mythology, which didn't make all that much sense but seems like the kinda thing you'd get really into once you started playing.

The only thing that bothered me was not having complete control of my camera (besides being able to center it behind me) if I was in combat, as the right analog stick is reserved for combat functions, but it didn't seem like anything I couldn't get used to.

Anyway I preordered it like immediately after playing the demo, really looking forward to this now (and Rise of the Argonauts, which no one seems to be talking about anywhere). Can't wait for the end of august (too many good games in september :<)

The controls sucked imo. Couldn't figure out how to string attacks properly so I just stopped playing. If the game gets good reviews I'll probably pick it up.

The demo was great. I hear a lot of complaints about it but to me they just seem moot. I had no trouble picking up on the controls and combat flowed fine. As your combo meter gets higher I swear the action/pace of the game accelerates which gives me that devil may cry vibe.

I'll most definently be picking this up on release day.

If you read between the lines in this interview, it sounds like the length of the game might be lacking...

On that same topic, talking about production values, do you think we're going to see the death of the 40 hour plus mega-RPG, action-adventure game?

I think we already have. I think that died five years ago. I don't know of too many people who are making those anymore. From the stand-point of production quality, you really want the optimum experience. Gamers these days have less and less time, so anything that starts going more than 15 hours will probably lose its audience. I know the hardcore gamers don't want to hear that, and I'm a hardcore gamer myself, but as you get older and you want to continue to play games, you just can't put in that much time and have time for other games. That's why I stay away from MMOs.

I played the demo and thought it was decent. Then my friends told me how to play as the locked classes and liked it a lot more. Champion was the least fun class to play, I thought.

I'll most likely grab it because I have a few friends interested in it too. Although I've heard it's only 2 player co-op, sadly.

Since I don't see it mentioned in the thread, how to unlock the locked classes in the demo:
    -Disconnect Xbox from internet.
    -Set system date to 2009.
-Play demo offline, Berserker and Commando are now available.

To get Defender and Bio-Engineer center your screen on the class you want to play. Then switch to a class you have unlocked while mashing A. It can be a pain in the ass, but I was able to play as Defender by doing it. Never got Bio-Engineer to work like this, but I heard it does. Didn't bother me too much, since that class seems like it's very co-op oriented.

If you watch the interviews and the gameplay interviews, you would know they said the story first time through would be 15-20 hrs, and that you cant reach max level through the firt play through. Also, you can reach level 50 and its been said that one play through is never the same expierence as the first.

Was downloading the demo on xbox live when I got the happy 3 red lights and just filed a repair order...

I've heard horrible horrible things about too human but I'm interested in at least giving it a try. Huge fan of Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and Eternal Darkness

Controls suck big time, and the graphics aren't that amazing either.

    I was very disappointed.

Well they delayed it for 2 1/2 weeks after the demo released, lets hope by the time it releases they fixed the controls, but for all we know that could have been a super early build, we'll see on august 20.

A build can change drastically if it needs to in a couple of weeks. Those fuckers aren't sleeping at all for now.

This wasn't too bad, the controls are shitty though.

I didn't think the controls were that bad, simply aim the right thumbstick in the direction of the enemy you want to kill and you slide right over, plus auto-attack as fast as you can. The way you knock people in the air is kinda cumbersome, but I didn't find that much need to do it anyway, even as Champion when you get a bonus to damage. Most things die in 1-2 hits with a decent weapon, and attacks seemed slower in air anyway. Other than that controls seemed ok.

I'll be honest, I don't even know if the controls are shitty. They tried something new with them and they are not extremely intuitive but I have no idea if they hold up and possibly add more depth to the game. I just don't know.

I haven't tried the demo, but the previews for the game make it look very fun. I like how they made the loot system mimic a mmo, but I can't get past the fact that it lacks a real online world. I'm a total loot whore like many others... but what makes acquiring loot/gear fun [to me] is the competition behind acquiring such items. For ex... when you get "X" piece of gear there is a sense of pride in it even though it's just a digital thing. Yet I don't know how long that sense of enjoyment will last in a single player game where there is no sense of competition or need to kill certain boss mobs over-and-over again until you get that rare drop.

Had to be the worst game ever created in the "took 10 years to make" category.

has anyone seen any updates on the game, any kind of changes etc?

I was able to pick up my premium item from gamestop yesterday that gives you the codes to get the armor for each class.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the controls sucked. Camera angles were awful, especially the default one. Also I'm not quite sure why, but the whole time I was playing I felt like I was playing an MMORPG - minus the players + dumb AI.

DO NOT WANT. I'll stick to ToV and IU!
