Which School did YOU go to BG?

So basically, I'm in a situation where I'm having trouble deciding which schools I would like to apply to, and with many deadlines coming up the pressure's on even more. I'm curious as to which schools people here have attended and what they have to say about them in the hopes that it will give me more ideas.

Just post basic stuff like the school name (obviously), atmosphere, cost, etc. Anything like that please.

University of Texas at Dallas. Founded by those who founded Texas Instruments, and most of the engineering faculty has been in industry for 20+ years.

~4k in tuition per semester, plenty of scholarships.

If you are having trouble deciding, break it down into what you want. Small school or big school? rural or urban, or something between? how good is that school for your major? price? distance? etc

make a point system and see which scores highest

I chose the smallest and newest UC. I use chose loosely because I didnt try very hard in HS at all, so I didnt have the most choices in the world. It's a perfect fit for me because I didn't want a huge student body at all, and there are many personal opportunities with faculty that are made much easier because of the size.

I gotta say that community college for the first 2 years is a great way to go. It'll save you a ton of money, and even though there are a lot of people who go there, you can still get into some small classes (they state the capacity for each class when you're trying to enroll in it and there is usually one or two that have few students in them). The quality of learning is about the same vs a university (not talking Ivy League or anything though), there are often very talented people teaching at community colleges.

What I did was go to cc and get a 2yr degree, now I'm working saving money with plans to finish up 4 year degree at a university (looking into Oberlin College in Ohio - VERY liberal arts, very prestigious, very expensive).

Personally I did Community College with a scholarship reimbursement. By the end of the first year I wound up making a profit after taxes. I'm not sure how it is now, but CC can save you some money while buying some time to transfer to a University.
If you don't mind traveling, there's plenty of colleges that will pay you for attending out of state. Also minority universities do the same, check out what's close to you.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, CA. If you're from California it's pretty cheap, if not it is expensive. Good school either way, especially if you're an engineer.

    University of Georgia.

HOPE scholarship is amazing. I'm graduating this year after 5 years with my Master's of Accountancy and probably paid $30k total for 5 years, including the Master's program. My friend went to Wake and paid over $250k for the same degree after 5 years. The best part? We are both working the same job for the same company with similar salaries (only difference is due to the cities we are working in).
