360 backwards compatability

So I just bought a 360 on ebay and Marve Vs Capcom 2 and it's not working. I tested the game on a friends xbox he has an elite not sure if it matters and it worked there. I bought a normal one (CoD4 and xbox live works so i'm assuming i'm not doing something right to download the patch or whatever) Is there something I have to do other than load the game and install the game for it to play and install the patch because i'm sad its not working QQ?

The arcade version of the system doesn't play old xbox games.

Two questions:

1) Do you have a hard drive for your 360, or are you just using a memory card for the time-being?

2) Is the 360 you bought from eBay a JP model by any chance?

i have the 20 gb version white one older model without HDMI, I'm pretty sure it's not JP since the only language i could pick was english though.

Weird. That should be fine, I can't think what might be wrong with it then.

Sounds glitchy - if I were in your shoes, I'd give Support a call and ask them if they can diagnose a problem. Perhaps they'll be able to send the necessary update directly to your profile.

Only Xbox game I have and play on 360, is Knights of the Old Republic. Works fine for me although some times the sound kinda goes staticy, but that's not too often and usually goes away after a minute or two.
