    RDM Gear

I have been putting off dealing with this realization for a while now, and I need help.
To put it bluntly, I have way too much rdm gear. Once food, expendable items, and linkpearl and taken into account, I have 65 slots and about 80 pieces of gear. My rdm gear is as follows:

Weapons: 8 HQ staves, fourth mace, mythic wand+1, warp cudgel, joytoy
Subs: magic strap, bugard/raptor strap+1 (would like to get a staff strap if I have space), Genbu's shield, numinous shield +1
    Ranged: phantom tathlum, white tathlum
    head: AF2+1, AF+1, nashira, walhara
neck: morgana's choker, elemental/enfeebling/enhancing/dark torques, ugg pendant, reraise gorget
earrings: loq, magnetic, novio, moldavite, enfeebling, dark (would get a novia if I had space)
body: nashira, morrigan's, goliard, crimson, AF+1 (fucking af2 body is the bane of my existence)
hands: zenith, goliard, shadow, AF2, devotee +1, crimson, dusk
    rings: tamas, serket, omega
back: altruistic, aslan, prism, cheviot (getting a merciful soon)
waist: forest rope, penitent's, AF2, swift belt, ice/thunder/dark obis
pants: nashira, zenith, crimson, goliard, AF2, AF1, mahatma
feet: zenith, goliard, nashira, AF2, dusk

I know dark magic stuff can stay home when im /nin or /whm, but that only causes more problems when I am those subs. Basically everything there gets used frequently, it's just a matter of narrowing it down. A lot of the mp pieces are for convert (1020/1027) and yes i am elf. Where should I cut down ;\

I never carry zenith legs or feet, don't see a need for white tathlum or AF2 pants in most situations either... and you don't need your haste gear unless you're going out to solo / tank, I guess?

Aside from that I only take out obis if I'm going out and the day is coming up within 3 hours.

zenith legs/feet bump by convert up substantially (esp feet since no other feet options really). AF2 pants I think are the easiest scrap, though I do find myself using them here and there. White tathlum I love for the little boost in hp and the enmity (I love hp mages). I'd honestly get rid of phantom before white (plus can't sell white since got from ls). Hate scrapping swift/dusk but I guess it's probably for the best.

Also, dark torque/earring and ugg pendant worth keeping? Dark magic so random a lot but my dark set does give me a lot better rates than before. Ugg pendant maybe not best since mobs will resist more since lolrdm nukes (though 8/8 elemental)

Depends on what you are doing. I personally wouldn't bring mine to an exp camp, or against a mob that'll likely to resist nukes. And like mentioned above, you'll probably won't need to bring all elemental obis to an event that'll last 2-3 hours.

so much fucking equipment nowadays. when I played, the only equipment swapping I did was dalm >> af1 body for enfeebles, but I had HQ staffs at least. oh, and I remember I swapped rings. what the fuck is morrigans, like nashira?

Nashira Turban is kinda situational IMO, I stopped carrying it. I never carry walhara with me because AF1 head is better, just assuming you use that for convert.
Get Yigit Hands instead of Shadow Cuffs and you can get rid of devotee's +1 as well.
I never carry around Aslan cape whenever I'm going to be using Prism anyway, HP-20 and inventory+1 is not good enough for 1 MND.
AF2 belt you should be able to leave home... penitent's is better and the hMP is good but I usually don't need to rest on RDM with full convert merits.
Goliard pants... I'm just not a fan of them.

And I don't like zenith, but I'm taru. Are you an elf or a hume?

He said he is elvaan. Hume can get away with a single or two zenith pieces but Elvaan will probably need them for 1:1 ratio.

You don't need to carry all gear for all situations. Take them to the ones that are called for.

There should always be a base set you take everywhere with you, this includes staves (not straps), 1 - 2 pieces max for each slot of your inventory. Rings / body blahblahblah.

After that, you bring your standard set and add one set to each thing. A great way to base a standard set is to bring what you'd bring to be the battery of a merit party. After that start building around it or even taking away from it.

HNM = STANDARD SET + MND set if you're there to debuff

    Soloing = Standard + /nin set.

ENM = standard + nuke set.

etc. I'm not going to hilight which pieces of gear you should leave at home, because I'm going to assume you have a brain and can use it to know which pieces belong to which set (for example, would you bring a mythic wand or nash turban when doing anything /nin or even nuking? I sure wouldn't). If you are confused on what to leave back, 90% it's not confusion and more habit of you taking everything with you and unable to let things stay in the mog house.

Do what I do with obis. Do /clock when gearing up, if the event is likely to last long enough to take an obi, take it- if not, leave it in MH.

Separate shit out, you don't need joy/genbu for most LS events? nor will you need nuke gear a lot of the time, conversely you probably don't need mythic wand+1 or white tathlum for soloing.

Weapons: 8 HQ staves, fourth mace, mythic wand+1, warp cudgel, joytoy
Subs: magic strap, bugard/raptor strap+1 pick one (would like to get a staff strap if I have space), Genbu's shield, numinous shield +1
    Ranged: phantom tathlum, white tathlum
    head: AF2+1, AF+1, nashira, walhara
neck: morgana's choker, elemental/enfeebling/enhancing/dark torques, ugg pendant, reraise gorget
earrings: loq, magnetic, novio, moldavite, enfeebling, dark (would get a novia if I had space)
body: nashira, morrigan's, goliard, crimson, AF+1 (fucking af2 body is the bane of my existence)
hands: zenith, goliard, shadow, AF2, devotee +1, crimson, dusk
    rings: tamas, serket, omega
back: altruistic, aslan, prism, cheviot (getting a merciful soon)
waist: forest rope, penitent's, AF2, swift belt, ice/thunder/dark obis
pants: nashira, zenith, crimson, goliard, AF2, AF1, mahatma
feet: zenith, goliard, nashira, AF2, dusk

Drop the bolded shit for events where you won't be nuking much or need haste. You probably don't need to carry aslan AND prism cape. Drop the MND and blahblah w/e else for nuke gear and haste when soloing, problem solved.

EDIT: wafik beat me, but basically this:
If you are confused on what to leave back, 90% it's not confusion and more habit of you taking everything with you and unable to let things stay in the mog house.

IMO you don't need all the HQ staffs just the important ones, basically unless your BLM main or need Jupiter's Staff at all just sell it. If you worked on RDM merits your prolly going to merit ice magic acc, your aquilos staff has +10 elemental skill and 5 int which helps your nukes not to mention thunder merits are useless unless your BLM is at a useable level.

That and Vulcans staff are both useless keep them in your mog until you know you will need to fight something where that nuke will be used and also the HQ water staff unless you need acc on your poison(lol).

That should free up 3 spots easy.

And just do what LW said, take gear for what your doing, Do you take shihei to sky when your /whm? No? Good you shouldn't, same for other gear your not going to make the most of your current sub/role for the fight.

I find myself nuking a lot more than 95% of rdms because of the gear I have...I am super-ass ocd about my rdm (was the only job I had at 75 for 3 years).

It hurts me to see I should leave some stuff home that gives me an extra mnd or 2 here and there lol. It's weird sounding, but I can't think of the last time I used my skillset, so maybe that should be the first thing left back.

...or SE can give me 30 more spaces

honestly you can still drop decent nukes here and there leaving half that nuke set at home lol.

Absolutely useless stuff you should not need to carry ever:

Joyeuse + Genbu's Shield (wtf would you use them for, unless you're soloing for fun)
Magic Strap (Raptor Strap HP/MP+ is better for idling, and Staff Strap should be macroed into cures/buffs)
Goliard Cuffs (Shadow better for int debuffs, dev+1 better for mnd debuffs, zenith better for nuking. Don't see the point. Get Morrigan's)

Other than, it's about prioritizing, like people have said. MP gears tend to be the first things I leave home, as I believe in a quality over quantity approach. Next to go is hMP gear. I can't remember the last time I actually had to sit and med on RDM.

I'm just too scared of doing something and then realizing I don't have the gear I want for it ;x

I typically nuke in goliard hands because of the macc on them and the low skill on rdm.
Magic strap I macro in for sleeps, bind, and grav, though I don't mind leaving that behind.
Joy/genbu...I have been in 3 situations I can think of at the top of my head where I spend 10 minutes going somewhere then realize I don't have sword on me lol...terrible I know.

MP is an issue sometimes being in elf, but thankfully I typically have a relic brd in my pt anymore. It just really really sucks starting at 6xx mp.

If you must leave some stuff behind, I myself would:

Warp Cudgel - shouldn't be hard to get around really, for events there should be D2s and solo in conquest area would have OP, past area have CA, unless you solo in TAU area a lot of most of those areas are not hard to get around anyway.

Magic Strap - since you said you don't mind leaving that one behind, just use Bugard/Raptor instead.

Nashira Head - I guess you use that for the macc, altho I myself never see the attraction in that.

U.Pendant - I used to own one, but now I am sold that, in fact I dun even wear AFII boots anymore and use Nash instead, I find the ele skill more appealing for RDM nukes.

Shadow Cuff/Devotee +1 - if you dont mind losing 1 MND, get Yigit Gloves, that gives 5 INT and 5 MND should can replace both of those while losing 1 MND, but you gain 1 inventory.

Belts - AF2 and Obis. I am never a big fan of the obi cause it only works during the weather/day, weather aside, day wise they work once every 6 hours for a 45min period, just not worth the inventory in my opinion. AFII Belt only good for HMP, but that depends how often you rest.

Goliard Trew - I guess you often use that for soloing, but I would leave that one behind. If you suddenly wanna solo while that is not on you, just use Nash for the time being for the Haste.

AFII Boots - only thing I use the boots for is for nuking, but now I rather use Nashira for the ele skill, I have left my AF2 boots in MH now.

HQ needed = wind, dark, ice, thunder, earth. Don't need Fire, water. NQ light only. 4rth mace seems like a lot of gear swapping for crap MP saved (1 mp per minute ?). Warp cudgel ... -4 invo.

Subs: magic strap, bugard/raptor strap+1 (would like to get a staff strap if I have space), Genbu's shield, numinous shield +1
I let genbu @ mog house now, since it's basically usuless unless i pull out out my sword. Very situational shield. Get a drk grip instead.

    Ranged: phantom tathlum, white tathlum
white tathlum ? Enmity is not great for a rdm. If a job can survive when it pulls hate it's RDM.

    head: AF2+1, AF+1, nashira, walhara
turban is for melee, nashira is useless. Spell interruption is great .. but not that great. Either put them in mog or get something like Gliard head/yigit head for hmp. -2 invo.

neck: morgana's choker, elemental/enfeebling/enhancing/dark torques, ugg pendant, reraise gorget
Enhancing & drk torque are very situationnal. Drk torque mainly. Ugg pendant lol.. Nuking is fine on RDM but it's probably less that 10% of your work. And you already have elemental torque for this.

earrings: loq, magnetic, novio, moldavite, enfeebling, dark (would get a novia if I had space)
    dark earring /toss. enfeebling /toss

body: nashira, morrigan's, goliard, crimson, AF+1 (fucking af2 body is the bane of my existence)
goliard is "good" and all but conserve mp is shit. /toss. Remove nashira, goliard.
    -2 invo

hands: zenith, goliard, shadow, AF2, devotee +1, crimson, dusk
The only usefull stuff in there would be goliard & MND gloves I guess. I see you're elvaan, if you die for MP get RSE.

waist: forest rope, penitent's, AF2, swift belt, ice/thunder/dark obis
    obi is a waste of time/space w/e.

pants: nashira, zenith, crimson, goliard, AF2, AF1, mahatma
    zenith, goliard, AF1 goodbye.

feet: zenith, goliard, nashira, AF2, dusk
    Zenith, dusk..

I know dark magic stuff can stay home when im /nin or /whm, but that only causes more problems when I am those subs. The only reason you'd keep drk and enhancing is for bio and phalanx2. While phalanx2 is cool, bio is shit. Also convert gear doesn't improve your performance that much. I currently use 2 specific piece for convert only (serket ring & forest rope) which put me at 950MPish.

    Just my opinion.

Honestly most the time I'm on RDM I know what I'm doing and where I'm going, if I'm going to join a tank PT and there's already 2+ RDM there already (with better enfeebling gear ;_ I'm not gonna haul all my enfeebling gear and all my ele gear and staves out, if I'm going to be in the melee PT and just be Curing and Hasting with a couple of Refreshes, same deal. That's why it made me lol when people were QQing that I had like 47 slots when I was on RDM in Tav as if it's genius to carry every single piece of gear you'll ever use on RDM at all times.

Drain/Aspir for dark, and stun if you're /drk. Enhancing also helps with stoneskin.. but I think rdms should be pretty close at cap, if not already there?
