    The Silence of the Devs

    One of our editors has written a response piece to the silence of the devs regarding the enfeebling adjustment, which can be found here: Allakhazam.com: Final Fantasy XI: The Silence of the Devs

    We're looking to have as much discussion stem from this article as possible to gain the attention of the dev team, who so far seem to be just sitting on their hands about the issue. I haven't been able to squeeze any response from them on my own and this article was written to keep the issue at the forefront.

    I know you guys raise hell about SE's communication all the time, so I'm posting in the hopes that you can use this piece as another medium for doing just that.

    I have a feeling they wont fix anything. They only time they fix something is when it gives the players an advantage. They will probably fix the Quick Draw thing before they fix Enfeebling debuffs and durations.

    imo they FIXED resists traits (not nerfed enfeebling) so they aren't just a placebo. I spent the first 4 years of playing wondering wtf my RDM's "resist petrify" did, because it certainly didn't stop me from being petrified, and it always seemed to wear off at the same time as non-rdms. So now players and mob family innate resists actually mean something. That's a good thing. Deal with it.

    While it would be nice, we're not even really looking for a fix, really, just some acknowledgement. Is this the precedent they're now setting? Are we only going to get half the details of the next version update? Or do we just not need to know anything anymore?

    I've always found BRD's resist silence trait to proc quite often even before this patch.

    see the other thread of unexpected nerfs and etc, someone was able do to us Quick Draw 20 times within 15 seconds I think.

    So wait, because they fixed resist traits and didn't tell us, SE automatically hates everyone in their player base?

    And how is this one of the worst updates? ANNMs, FoVs and Augments are pure win.

    Perhaps because of the adjustment, the dev's silence will only last for half the standard duration?

    (Witty response: Half of infinity is still infinity)

    BTW to the person who said that they fixed Resist Traits: Okay, that's a somewhat valid point. But are resists really "fixed" if sleep is getting half duration on a level 1 rabbit in W Ronfaure?

    I thought of that after I posted. I was just thinking of the leech/water resists that someone posted. But, afaik, nowhere in game does it say sleep is going to last 60 seconds, or whatever, it just always lasted that long. Maybe their new resist system does need some tweaks, but overall i think it's a step in a better direction.

    It needs some tweaks, and we're beta-testing their half-thought-out new resist system in the meantime.

    Even if this really is a new resist system, and it is working perfectly according to their specifications, even if we go so far as to say that SE really intends for that level 1 rabbit to sleep for half duration in their new system, why is this not in the patch notes?

    I like the change too. It made certain things much harder, but in good ways (Ein dogs are unsleepable now instead of being among the easiest mobs in the zone, and more fun stuff).

    What I, and every other person, don't like is how they don't fucking say anything to us.

    EDIT: My question becomes 'Do the devs even realize anything is wrong?' At this point, I would say it's 50/50.

    Mirke Wardecors with -5 QD allows for the user that during those 5 seconds of difference (the ones you didn't have prior to Mirke) you're allowed to fire as many shots without penalty.

    Here's the link of the friend in my linkshell who found it out.
