As long as we're on the topic of sensory dysfunctions, I've always smelled poorly. I also have a very bland sense of taste, and the texture of food matters more to me than the taste. I can taste fatty and salty foods, but finer tastes from spices and such make no difference to me.
I can't seem to smell strong scents, such as smelling a flower or a litter box, and have trouble picking up the smell of cowpies in a pasture or yeast at a brewery, or other strong ambient aromas. It's a mixed blessing. But it annoys my friends that I can't smell (or taste) the things they do.
But once in a while I might catch a faint waft of something that even my friends have trouble picking up. Usually its when I'm not even trying to smell anything, it just wafts by very faintly and I pick it up.
I have no known allergies, although I do blow my nose a lot and am perpetually stuffy. There's no difference indoors, outdoors, summer, winter, spring, summer, wet, dry, moldy, fresh, pollen/no pollen, whatever, it's always the same.
Am I going to die?
