    Laptop + FFXI graphics issue

I've had this laptop for about 8 months. It's an HP, exact model number I can provide when I get home from work. the laptop plays WoW just fine, but it has an issue with FFXI that I cant seem to find source for. I can play FFXI just fine however all 3d objects including but not limited to: characters, mobs, rulude gardens elevator appear chopped up, the outlines allow you to recognize what it is, but details/coloring of the objects is all pretty much fail. for example i can see if something is a taru vs an elvaan pretty clearly, if it's wearing an ohat or wal-mart turban or af hat, its distinguishable by shape, but all further color and details are horrible. I'll see if I can also provide some screenshots when I get home. I'm trying to figure out what's wrong, what I need to fix/update, I've tried lowering and raising FFXI settings from the ffxi config menu but no changes, thanks for any info, and i'll provide more pics and laptop info once I'm home.

Hmmm... sounds like a Vista HP laptop with some sort of Nvidia driver conflicting with FFXI. You said you've had it for 8 months. You've been playing FFXI on another machine and just recently installed it or been bearing with the graphics for that long? lol ?_?

That's the only thing I can think of that might be your problem. If you haven't tried yet run FFXI without using any 3rd party apps. Did you tinker with any reg settings (prolly won't do anything but you never know).

If your HP does use Nvidia/Vista check out this thread and Nvidia's forums

    Goodluck~

I play on another machine, I dualbox using laptop sometimes. Device drivers are Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family. Yes, it's vista, and it's an HP Pavilion dv2700 Notebook PC.

I have the same graphics card for my PC and textures for characters mobs, fenrir statue doesn't load or show up all messed up.
This does not apply to stationary textures that is part of a map.
and weirdly not to other furniture in my moghouse other than fenrir statue.
    Bahut and flags ><

I've just updated my windows with service pack 2, I also updated to the latest drivers for the graphics card, both of these were done today.

prior of these two updates the game worked almost perfectly. except sometimes it would freeze, but I guess that was due to that my laptop only got 1GB RAM and i had too many services going. these were cleaned up before I updated and game worked fine after cleanup.

Got any idea how to fix my little problem?
I use laptop for gaming when I don't have my stationary available or when i'm traveling. I would prefer that I can play without this problem without changing OS or do a system restore ><

Found the solution for this on another forum.
Just have to install earliest driver available for Mobile Intel (R) 965 Express Chipset Family.

And now my game works perfectly, except for the usual stuff that doesn't work =)
