    Book Recommendations

I have a 22 hour flight coming up in a couple months and I need some book recommendations. I like sci-fi adventure stuff, I loved the Ender's Game series, Dune, and most recently enjoyed Seeker by Jack McDevitt. Anyone have some recommendations?

I know we had a book thread at some point but I couldn't find it

    Thanks!

The Alchemyst: The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel by Michael Scott.

Great series, great reads. If you like real history sprinkled in to your fantasy books then its is for you. I've read all 3 so far and cant wait for the 4th.

Anything that can rip me away from Science books or Classic Lit. is a win in my book, that series did it successfully.

If you want something science fiction adventure specifically then seek Neil Stephenson; Snow Crash, The Diamond Age, and Cryptonomicon (this one is less science fiction and more history though, alternating settings of WWII and present day..it's still scifi nerdy level stuff though, talking about technology and mathematics) are all great reads, and have some length to them so you aren't burning through 3 books at once on the flight.

Not sci-fi, nor is it fictional, just read it. Great book about thin-slicing. Goes into facial expressions, and they guy whom the show "Lie to me" was based off of. Fast read.

That one sounds pretty interesting. Consider Phlebas and Sir Apropos of Nothing sound enjoyable too. Thanks all for the great suggestions, it's off to Barnes and Noble's after work

Just a rather unloved throw-out that I found on my bookshelf was Monument by Ian Graham, relative unknown with only one book.

I've owned it for like 5 years and only recently read it but it was really enjoyable and full of good action as well. It's a first and last if you don't feel like getting into a series, though apparently he's writing a prequel.

    Second this one.

I LOVE Zombies, but all that aside this is a really good book as well.

Not sci-fi, but still particularly interesting, especially if you're a history buff:
The Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte. It's a series of books based upon historical fiction concerning the events that led to the birth and life of King Arthur of Britain asnd the forging of Excalibur.

First book in the series is called The Skystone, and while it's a few generations away from the man himself, I highly recommend starting from this beginning to better understand the context of events that occur through the series.

Can always get all 5 books to the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. That should take you a little while to get through.

If you liked the Ender series the same author has some other good books, I personally really liked "Treason".

Also echo on the Hitchhikers series great books.
