USB 3.0

Hello my tech savvy friends!

I've recently noticed some info about usb 3.0 and was wondering if anyone here has used it yet. I did about a 15 minute google research on it and wanted to know from personal experience how it is?

Also, what all is on the market now that supports it? As far as mobo's, HD's, etc...

Pretty sure it hasn't been adopted as a standard for any company yet. Were probably still a year or two from seeing USB 3.0 shipping with every computer.

They're still working to standardize that and SATA6 or w/e, but cyberpowerpc, the custom online pc builder is going to start including both. No personal experience with it though

I'd be surprised if anyone has any first hand accounts of usb 3.0 currently. There is only 1 motherboard that I'm aware of that has the ports required to use it. There is at least USB 3.0 external hard drives planned to be released soon (possibly already out), but the majority of usb 3.0 products will not come out for awhile due to intel refusing to create a new chipset.

I was reading about it and from what I could tell it's going to be AWESOME!

Where usb 2.0 transfer rate is maxed at 25mb per/sec, usb 3.0 transfer rate is going to be maxed at 75mb per/sec.

I read that Intel doesn't like USB 3.0 and/or has a competing standard that they're promoting so they're not planning on bringing out chipset that supports it for a while so if you want USB 3.0 you have to use an add-on card...
