Will you still play Aion when FFXIV comes out?

Before I say anything else: Please don't flame me This is just out of sheer curiousity not a qq thread.

For those of you that don't know, FFXIV beta applications opened up today. It's something I definitely want to participate in. FFXI was my first mmo, and to this day I still have an active account. I will admit after Aion came out, I don't play it much because the graphics sort of hurt my eyes, haha. It does however have a very special place in my heart.

I love Aion as well. There are many things that is offers and has that I had always sort of hoped for in ffxi. (like the ability to accomplish things solo while waiting for a group, lol)

My question is, are you guys completely done with SE mmo's or do you plan on playing ffxiv?

I am unsure myself of what my future will hold. I know that I WILL try FFXIV out. If I really enjoy it, and Square Enix can step their customer service up from what it was in FFXI there is a possiblity that it could possibly take me away from Aion. I guess only time will tell.

Will you keep playing Aion, or will FF possibly take you too?

Anyhow, much love to my fellow Aioners that played ffxi!! I can usually tell you guys apart in groups as your skill seems to always be exceptional, because ffxi did produce some skilled players unlike another not to be mentioned mmo.

    99% chances are that I will leave Aion for FFXIV. Of course there's a chance it will suck and I won't want to play it longer than first month so then I might go back to Aion ^^;

I like Aion and pvp a lot now. FFXIV won't have pvp right? I'll try it out though, but not leave Aion.

    I will play FFXIV.

I played FFXI for years, and only left because it finally got stale for me. But nothing beats the community and experience of my time with FFXI.

Agreed. No matter how hard I try to adjust, nothing compares to the ffxi community. I hope that ffxiv maintains that more mature community, and is not infested with wow's 13-year-old-acting dumbasses.

As much as i'd rather pick neither, it would have to be Aion.

Even though Aion already lacking in content, with no forseable future content comming soon (i will laugh if you think that future video will happen even next year) it does have the potential to be a good game and i'm willing to give them more time to develop the game further for a NA/EU audience and in the short time it has been out they have shown they actually listen to their customers and are willing to change things to suite their needs.

As for FF14 it is run by the same idiots that ran FF11 for god knows how many years screwing up the game and making things impossible (hai2u AV) why you would to play another game produced by them idk, they had their chances, do you really think SE has learnt from their mistakes i highly doubt it. I'm not sure why SE is even releasing a new MMO, anyone other then their fanboy base would be stupid to buy an MMO released by them again. Piss poor customer service and horrible game development, enjoy 14 lol.

I like aion, pvp is fun and ffxiv will be pve only. As summoner i was waiting for avatars many years and still nothing(SEshit), im Spiritmaster in aion and its a better pet class.

I was blind when i played ffxi, i thought i was a true summoner but i was a true blind.

I will most likely play both, but xiv will likely be my focus. I enjoy the pvpness in aion, and by the time xiv comes out I imagine I'll be 50 so no more lower level shit. But I am more of a pve player so I'm sure xiv will have more pull for me.

The main problems I have with SE and FFXI at the moment are:
    1) Their communication with the playerbase is virtually non-existent. They do the absolute bare minimum amount of communication they can get away with, such as posting update teasers. The crap they pulled where they imposed the 3-D secure requirement with just a few hours notice before the next billing cycle month pretty much did it for me.
    2) Their recent trend of banning people for stupid reasons, such as changing billing information twice in a short period of time, having a friend or relative use their credit card to pay for your account, etc. then having to wait weeks to get your account back if they even decide to give it back at all. I understand the fact that these types of things can seem suspicious in an era where RMT frequently use stolen credit card information to fuel their operations, but having to jump through a bunch of hoops and wait a long time just to get your account back is ridiculous.

If SE actually worked on some of these things and demonstrated that they actually care about the playerbase, I'd consider giving FF14 a try. Until then, I won't even consider it.

I'm definitely gonna cancel my Aion account if/when I get invited to beta. As it is I'm pretty close to cancelling..

NCWest is doing the exact same thing.

    1. The stupid twattering bullshit I hoped would at least allow for easier communication hasn't revealed anything other than that NCWest are clueless. i.e. "We're being told one of the servers is down!"
    2. People have been banned for sending any large amount of money by mail, for using mouse macros, for using that DPS meter someone made, and for using a program that lets you see if a GM is active on your server and send them a whisper (which you can't do normally, even if you know their name).

FFXI (prior to Aion) is the only MMORPG I've ever played. I loved my time in Vana'diel, and off the back of that, I will try FFXIV. There is absolutely no way I'll sit here and say I will quit Aion for it though. I am not going to bow to a game that hasn't been released, even if it was made by SE whos previous game I enjoyed greatly.
I think I probably will enjoy it, but I'm going into the experience with my eyes open wide, and I will critique it as I would any other game.

I am very much enjoying Aion at the moment. It looks like I may have to come to a crunch decision at some point next year, but I will make that decision when I can make it an informed one. Making a decision now? Crazy if you ask me.

I do agree on those points, although using third party tools to modify the game is a violation, but I didn't know these types of things would happen going into it as I didn't have any experience with this company. If these things keep up, chances are I won't pick up another NCSoft MMO after I am done with Aion either.

I have had almost 6 years of experience with SE MMOs in the form of playing FFXI which I feel is enough to make a well informed decision.

I'm of the Aion has no content and think FFXIV will be bad but I'm willing to give it a shot mindset. Aion is fun until you hit 50, then there isn't shit to do and some lame PvP system that discourages PvP isn't a replacement.

I'm still very much skeptical of FFXIV just because of the support and how the game was handled for FFXI. I personally don't think I'll end up playing either.

Aion was supposed to be a bridge from XI to XIV for me....I couldn't cross it. I'll just leap over to XIV when it is released. Here's to beta! Cheers!

FFXIV all the way... and if that game fails, then KotoR I'm sure will be awesome... Aion was to rly just bridge the gap between those two games. Aion is fun, but economy is way to money dependent and game has no content... and yeah... pvp is great until you get a high enuff rank to where you will emo-logout when you get pvp killed cause you lose 2hrs+ of AP grinding cause you died. And it high rank pvp deaths only get worse and worse

Aion was only a stop on the way to FFXIV. I have no intention of continuing it after FFXIV becomes available.

I hope the graphics are comparable or better than Aion's. After playing Aion I can hardly imagine playing a game with inferior graphics again.
