Sorry for making another thread but this is serious, any lawyers/judges/paralegals on mind helping me out here? Being sued by a patient whom I prescribed a nintendo wii and a wii fit game to. She's 5'1 323 and is suing me under her being insulted by what I told her. What do I do, this is the second time.

I wish I could tell you I'm joking but I just got served in the lobby in front of other patients.

Backstory: Hospital I work at is slow and I was called by another doctor whom works in the city so I went there to help out for the day(free of charge because I went to high school with the guy). The city here is crappy and lots of low income/welfare people I'm sure the lady is trying to squeeze money out of me. I took her physical(which I normally don't do) she has a history of high blood pressure and has type II diabetes. Can't really give out more info than that because that's more grounds to be sued on. But yea, she's severely over weight and she recommended gastric bypass surgery, but I mentioned the wiifit as an alternative, I do this for my patients most of the time; there's other solutions than going under the knife. She says "ok thanks....asshole" then walks off sobbing with the console in hand. I go to the backroom to relax for a bit and I get called on the speaker. Guy hands me a paper, and tells me to consider myself served and that I'm not winning this. WTF?

All you have to do is appear in the courtroom and tell them you're a medical professional and your recommendation was for her to exercise more if she didn't want surgery. Knowing that she owned a Nintendo Wii, you recommended Wii Fit as a means of getting started and advocated an alternative diet. You should not be sued for someone taking offense to a medical recommendation. People go to the doctor for a solution to a condition, not for a shoulder to cry on.
