    Adapter to Laptop HD

My GF royally screwed her laptop up when she spilt some water and didn't clean up the mess entirely. I'm looking to get an adapter to a SATA Hard Drive by Western Digital (WD Scorpio). Anyone able to point me to a good online resource that I can handle the entire purchase with? I've had luck in the past rescuing information with my USB 2.0 to IDE adapter but it's not universal it seems. Thanks for the information.

You could get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/SATA-Hard-Driv..._bxgy_e_text_b which will let you use your laptop hdd as a nice, external usb powered hdd. There's also a more robust, all inclusive external adapter that can work with pata, laptop pata, and sata drives: http://www.amazon.com/USB-2-0-SATA-C...ef=pd_sim_e_20, but it leaves your drive out in the open, so it's not a very good long term use option. Gets the job done well though if you ever need to hook up a hdd temporarily, but need an extra plug for power.

I have both kinds since I have a few old hdds (and laptop ones) and they've been extremely handy. There's also caddy types that have you plug your hdd in upright like a big card, external bay types for better long term housing, or even just plain old pata/sata converters.

Yeah, I was doing a little shopping while waiting on a response and I looked at a few like the ones you mentioned. I'll definitely look into the external adapter for the simple fact that I like it to look clean and the clutter of cables here and there make me emo. Anything that can easily be stored is good in my book.
