Looking for good F2P MMO

Hey guys i'm looking for a fun/good free to play MMO to kill some time while i wait for my ffxiv beta invite. i just installed Fantasy Earth Zero and found the WASD + mouse impossible to use, gonna configure a gamepad. But is there anything else out there worth poking for a bit? I heard Runes of magic is good, is this true?

I wouldn't bother with f2p tbh. There are million cheap single/multiplayer games out there you can buy for like 5 bucks (steam has great summer deals going for example) that have much better quality than the trash of the gaming world that are f2p MMO's.

I'd suggest looking into those instead, but if you insist on f2p, DDO or bust. LOTRO isn't f2p yet afaik.

Guild Wars (though not always called an MMO) isn't bad, it's a lot of fun and the PvP is pretty well balanced and a lot more dynamic compared to other MMOs I've played. It's also not at all time consuming unless you want it to be, the one huge downside is that the community just absolutely sucks for the most part. There are small pockets of awesome people but until you find them you're stuck with the droves of idiots that play that game.

It's got a bit of a learning curve to it once you reach the endgame also, the game itself isn't so difficult but the endgame is completely different from the rest of the game in that it almost never follows a tank/dps/healer group setup but generally favors really weird builds that don't work anywhere except for specific zones.

I'll suggest a game called Torchlight though, it's a single player dungeon crawler with a ton of mods which are encouraged for the players to create. It's going to be turned into a free to play mmorpg and that'll be out in 2011. It's not what you want but i think it'll be worth looking into.

There's a free to play mmorpg called Mythos and i'm not sure if it's in beta or not yet but i think it'll start soon if not, you'll have to research that. As you're only looking for something to kill time with, i think that taking part in the beta of this game would be the perfect fix. http://mythos.redbana.com/

Not your traditional type of MMO, but I started playing because I like some cooperative action without the commitment and frustration. It's like a beat-em-up with RPG elements. It's fun to play from time to time.

Tried to download dungeon fighter but its US/Canada ONRY =( i should have mentioned i was EU in my OP to avoid getting NA only titles. oh well downloading DDO now and hopefully i'll enjoy it for a little while

Grand Fantasia - Somewhat good mmorpg

Atlantica Online - Think rpg/tactics/ no skill rpg and there you go

Man, I thought I jumped through these free to play games a lot. You seem to be playing a new one every week. Grand Fantasia has definitely been the one I've enjoyed most out of all the free to play ones. Played Runes of Magic recently and whilst it wasn't bad it just got extremely uninteresting quickly. Has a subjob system kind of like FFXI, which just means double the grindan too unless you're happy to gimp it.

Yeah, Grand Fantasia was fun for a long while. I've been playing Dragonica some lately with Kiarax, and honestly.. even while it's a "Side Scroller".. I've found it pretty interesting, and I'm playing on the EU server.

Yeah I jump from a new one every couple days to see if I like it. If I do then I'll stick with it for as long as I can contain myself with it. I never got far into grand when I played with you two so I downloaded it again last night for the hell of it.

I'm mainly jumping around cause I need something to play till FF14 comes out.

I've had the runes of magic client on my desktop for a month and haven't played it a lot since. I uninstalled it late Janurary and that was a mistake. I had to spend all day updating Runes after installing it again, so I'm not going to uninstall it ever again.
