Any info on Achievements/Trophies?

I've heard that even the PC version will have a list of "Achievements", anything out there on what they will be? And more importantly...I plan to start on PC then transfer to ps3 when its released. Being a trophy whore and all, will the progress switch over from PC to ps3? And/or if you have a got one on PC, when you load up the ps3 version will it give you the trophies you already achieved?

These are questions I'm thinkin about, any info appreciated!

These trophies would be saved to the server and not your hard drive so yes, no matter if you play on PS3 one day and PC the next, all of your trophies will be intact.

Sorry to nitpick, but where did you hear about achievements? I know there was a question at (I think) E3 about it, the guy doing the interview seemed to get confused and he said something about players being able to gain titles. I don't recall them actually saying there'd be achievements like with xbox or wow (and no, I'm not comparing ffxiv to wow).

I get that but I mean, take this for example. Say 1 trophy is reach level 20 for the first time. So we play on PC for 6months and then once we log on to ps3 you really think it'll ding that trophy that happened 6months before on a different system?


As for where I heard about achievements, just from a few buddies not a reliable source, ill try and ask them where they heard or seen the info

on xbox360 you had to go to a specific npc to unlock your achievements, i imagine something like that will be on ps3.

It'll either be this with a one-time use per trophy, or SE will require you to be on the PS3 of the time of dinging the trophy.

Otherwise it'll be prone to abuse, such as lending your account for a buddy for him to log-on and reap the rewards.

Well the way the 360 had it, you could only log into FFXI with one Gamer Tag. Period. They could potentially make you link it to your PSwhatever thing.

Pretty sure you were able to bug SE and have them unlink the gamertag for you, but I see your point.

There will definitely be trophies, because every PS3 game released after a certain date (sometime last year) must have trophies. I don't see why SE wouldn't put them in the PC version too since they will be created anyway.

I'm not going to buy the PS3 version just so my trophies show up on PSN, but maybe I'll find a reason to own both versions some day.

This would be the best thing they could do, I really hope its like that so you can just "cash in" your trophies at some point on ps3 if you want

Don't bother. They'll tell you that this information cannot be released yet or some shit like that. Actually, never bother e-mailing S-E about anything for you own sanity.
