    Florida edumacation system

I don't like beating dead horses, frankly that would involve a lot of rage and anti-equestrian bashing. But I graduated in the state of Florida. And you might say, Ohemgee you wanker, we can already tell based off your poor grammar. Where I'd rightfully pound your face in to the ground because well, I fucking can.

But all that non-sense aside I wanted to share about what's going on with Florida's public education system, which has turned a laughable corner as they're now proposing a bill that bases the teachers salary on the students performance. Well slap my tits, thats genius if you ask me. But I live in South Florida, and down here, everyone is fucking retarded. I don't mean borderline seizure retarded, I mean they can't get the basic shit down right.

But how does this effect me now that I've graduated, moved on to a higher institute of education, and now starting to move on to having my own fucked up minions? Well thats just it. Albeit I'll be able to make enough money to put my kids in to private education or make them work hard enough to understand the value of money and an education. But plain and simple my argument is this - why the fuck are we still teaching kids with an outdated education system? 75% of the shit I learned from Kindergarten to even the first two years of college goes in one way and out of my ass the other. I don't want to turn this in to a "boo hoo, but who the fuck needs British Literature, if I wanted to learn anything about the English, I'd sleep with one" kind of argument.

But really, what should we do about our education system now that 95% of it is on wikipedia? Should the teachers REALLY be protesting about their wages based on performance, or should we actually give a fuck about the way we obtain our education?

Footnote: This was only ranted about because there was a huge line at Firehouse subs today with a bunch of little twats ahead of me and not in class.

I tend to only get angry when I think about how worthless a lot of my education has been in FL. Been here my entire life. Even at the college level it is mediocre compared to what I hear from friends in other states, especially Cali.

Not only is the college education pretty average here, but these stupid fucks get to practically go to any state college for free.

In-state tuition is dirt cheap, and Florida Pre-paid college program basically pays for 75% of it.

Then these fucks never show up to class or drop out after a year. Waste of tax money.

Public education stopped being about educating a long time ago. It's just become a numbers game. As long as kids are graduating above a certain % nothing will change.

    It was never about education.

First it was about turning out obedient factory workers, then it was about moral indoctrination, now it's about turning out obedient office workers with only a little bit of moral indoctrination.

Trust me, the kids out here don't know shit.

I swear they completely skip geography in California schools. Noone from here knows where anything is, either in the state (fuck in the county even) much less where other states are. This is shit I learned in 4th grade, and the adults out here have no fucking clue.

    It's embarrassing.

This isn't just limited to FL, but to every State.

Remember, when you were very young, and the enthusiasm you had for learning. I'm sure we all remember the endless "Why", or the incessant questioning about everything. That is the natural state of childhood. The Schooling system beats the living shit out of that natural curiosity and individualism. The whole system is fucked up.

I got a pretty good education in my public school.

If the parents aren't shit, the kids won't be shit, and the teachers can actually teach.

This too. I went to public school but my parents had a "no excuses" approach to education. There were many football games, track meets and basketballs games I missed in HS because my grades were not up to par. Shit starts at home.

Should be more concerned about an upcoming Bill. From what i understand they want to change the pay of teachers based on performance of the students.

You know what would help, give parents better tax breaks depending on how well their children are doing in school. Or find some other incentive to make parents actually parent their kids and keep up with their kids schooling.

That makes a surprising amount of sense.

Reward parents who parent, and don't punish teachers for kids who dgaf

But I have an issue with that, which is basically the same as no child left behind.

Teachers are just going to teach the kids what is on the exam, and nothing else. That way they pass with flying colors when in reality, they barely know shit about the subject, they just know what they were going to be tested on.

How do I reeech theeeese keeeeds.

Assuming that parents have this magical all-powerful effect some in this thread seem to be ascribing to them, wouldn't this basically punish people who work nights, or work long hours, or have learning disabilities themselves, or have kids with learning disabilities, or have kids who are above their grade and just bored with the material, or have kids who are creative rather than adept at regurgitating rote facts for standardized tests, or....
