    Allergies

How the fuck do i get rid of them, clariten is completely worthless and every time i try to look up medication its just the company basically saying they are flawless with their fake testimonials everywhere. I'm tired of sleeping all day just to avoid waking up and sneezing all over my pc screen until i go back to bed.

Go see a Doctor and get a prescription.

When I moved into my new room I was all stuffy and stuff for like 2 weeks, figured it was allergies but claritin didn't do anything. Went to doctor, got perscription for some stronger stuff, cleared it right up :D

(What he gave me was Allegra-D and Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray)

Heard the nasal sprays really dry out your nostrils and can lead to worse problems ;\ wary of using them

You need to figure out whats causing your allergies. Do you leave your window open during the night? or is your room full of dust and whatever.

Either way something in your bedroom seems to be screwing with you, maybe also get a air purifier or something.

You can also try taking hot showers in the morning, steam always seems to clear up allergies pretty well.

Fluticasone is a steriod, so it does have the potiential of drying you out. Have you tried the different over the counter allergy meds like Zyretc? It's kind of a hit or miss thing with the allergy meds, different ones work better for different people. The only other oral medicine they can try besides Allegra is Singulair, and it works different than most other allergy meds, but if you don't have health insurance, be prepared to spend a decent amount of money.

I don't know why but Tylenol Allergy and Sinus is the only damn medicine that helps mine at all. Claritin, Zyrtec did nothing for me.

This. 1000x. Your best bet is to go see a doctor and get something prescribed if nothing OTC is working out for you. I would suggest against nasal sprays, personally, however. They helped reduce my nasal congestion, but they also dried my nostrils out to the point where I was getting constant nose bleeds :/
You may also want to look into allergy immunotherapy, aka allergy shots. See if your health care provider will cover some, if not all of the costs. I'd still be getting the shots if mine did :/

    EDIT: Ignore my low post-count :< I'm a lurker, not a poster!

@This since people are saying nasal spray is bad: A combo of both those two for like.. 2-3 days? And I was all cleared up for the most part. Stopped the spray first, kept with the Allegra-D for a few more days, and it was pretty much gone.

Allergies are kinda starting to come back a bit, guess mine's seasonal :/ Been keeping it at bay since I still have some of the above medicine leftover.

I heard somewhere to buy local honey and eat a tablespoon everyday. If it's pollen or whatever, your body is supposed to get used to it after awhile. I don't know if it's true because my allergies are only bad when the season changes and if I don't clean my room.

Its definitely seasonal pollen for me, had my window open today and didn't even realize it until the wind kicked up and almost ripped my curtain off the wall. Probably going to go check out the doctor though because going to take a summer course at college and if this keeps up ill have to drop the class because im certainly not going to sit in class like this.

Also was opposed to the nasal sprays because i took accutane which means im already pretty dry and nosebleeds are all too common.

I'd go to an allergist, get checked for what you are allergic too. I used to suffer badly, and now I'm doing better. I used to have to take shots when I was a teenager.

I'm still super allergic to cats.

the new hawtness in allergy treatment. i suffer from seasonal allergies extremely bad and its debilitating for me. my chiropractor offers an allergy cure treatment which completely removes the the allergic reaction your body receives. its called Bio Allergenix BAX 3000.

its a laser treatment, so no shots, no pills, no scratch tests, no pain. just takes a few minutes to get treated after you are diagnosed. i just started the treatment and had my first visit the other day. the only bad part is not many doctors have this because they think its too good to be true. also, its FDA approved. so it basically re=programs your nervous system to get rid of allergies.

    this should answer your questions...

i got diagnosed for the first time and turns out im slightly allergic to eggs. i personally never noticed a problem but it makes me hypersensitive to other things. after treatment i have to fast for 6 hours and also not eat anything egg related for 24 hours while the treatment does its thing.

Have you tried just taking a decongestant like Sudafed or chlopheniramine. You will have to get the Sudafed from behind the counter probably thanks to all the meth labs, but it might give you some temporary relief until you can get into see a doctor. It's all the D ingredient in Allegra-D, Claritin-D, and Zyrtec-D.

you can buy a single treatment for ~$90. so like if you know for sure you are allergic to cats then you can get treated specifically for that. although my doc says a lot of times you think you are allergic to one thing but its really just a hypersensitivity from something else.

For instance he had a patient that swore up and down he was allergic to dogs but when the doc diagnosed him, dogs didn't show up, but bananas did. doc treated the banana allergy and the patient could, within 24 hours, be around dogs without a problem.

there are 3 different categories, i think. foods, airborne (pollen, dust), and i think oils (like stuff that comes in contact with your skin). my doc charges $750 for a complete diagnoses and treatment of everything the program can possibly cure, which is a lot!

so just think about how much $ you might spend on trying OTC or prescription drugs when its allergy season and compare that to the price of a treatment.

Just stopping by to say Allegra-D has been godly for alleviating my allergy symptoms of dry itchy eyes and congested nose.
(granted I still have to blow my nose to clear the crap, but at least I *can* clear the crap once the med kicks in without having my ears blow up)

But as mentioned, it's hit or miss, took me 4 tries to get something that works.

If Claritin and Zyrtec don't work for you, go to your doctor and get a nasal steroid. They don't work all the time, but they are the first-line treatment in adults for a reason. The majority of the time nosebleeds are caused by using them improperly; just aim for the ear on that side to spray it laterally and you'll usually be fine.
