Decent server to start over?

Okay, I don't know why the fuck I did this, but was in Gamestop today and bought the Ultimate collection. I played this game for years, and it ran my life. 2 Years ago or so I sold everything, and made a decent amount.

I can safely say I will not become obsessed with this or any MMO again. My life is much busier, go out more, etc. However there are days where I have absolutely nothing to do. I knew pretty much everything about the game before I quit, and assume not all too much has changed. With an extremely dry spell going on in gaming right now (for me anyway) I figure why the fuck not? It will truely be casual.

I know there was a huge server merge and all, and don't know where any of my friends (if any still play at all) are. Basically looking for an answer on helpful servers where people wouldn't mind helping out getting started again, you know.. the whole unlock job quests, genkais etc. I'm not asking for my hand to be held or anything.

In before "dont do it" "wtf are you restarting" and all that other shit.

If you do come, look me up, I'll help you out. I won't level with you as I hate leveling and just SMN burn that shit anyway, but I can help with quests and what not. Same name in game, btw.

Actually you'd be wrong in your original assumption. A LOT has changed, as a majority of "game-changing content" has stopped flowing in, and as such, what content is left, you are expected to know every little detail about. Trolls abound, etc.

Well as far as OVERALL volume, Odin and Bahamut will always be packed. My original server was Odin, which was the first to get locked, obviously followed by Bahamut. Mind you, that might only be during JP times where it gets busy, since it only gets above 2k at like 7 AM EST. But all in all, I hope you restarting goes well. I did the same, and I enjoyed myself. I only did it for like a month but it was nice to have a time killer.

I was surprised at this, but do have to say it is true to some degree. But not completely.

The biggest thing that has changed is the way you level. Remember when you were in total awe of that party that got you 6k/hour? That is no more. If you get 6k/hour you have a crap group. With the changes that were made while you were gone, 10k+/hour is the minimum you should see. Even at lower levels 20-37 you should still be seeing somewhat similar numbers if you have a full group.

Places that were once viable for 2-3 parties may not even be viable for a single group. Gone are the times where you can /sea and see if there is a group in a particular camp. Level Sync and Fields of Valor allow people much more leeway into soloing and small group xp.

What has not changed... Anything else. Most of the gear you once had is still pretty damn good. Limbus is Limbus, sky is sky... (unless you left before Ulli was a forced pop nm), and Dynamis is still the same old Dynamis. There have been new things added, but none of them are overcomplicated and with the exception of Salvage no new "uber gear" has appeared that is overly difficult to obtain.

As for the OP... I can say that most servers are down to low pop and would suggest looking into one of the servers that were merged back in March. They will have a much higher population than those that didn't get merged. I know my server is averaging about 1100 or so throughout the day with a bump at some points.

Siren is mostly JP so there's only around 1k on during western times. I'd avoid Siren, for a number of reasons.

When I quit a lil over a year ago, the economy on Quetz was in freefall. Take that as you will.

Also; holy fucking shit. The process to register POL and everything is more convoluted than ever. I think I sat here for 5 minutes scratching my head about that 3D secure shit. None of my credit cards support it, but then when I put my info in and it redirected me to another website, it said I was fine. I can also generate a number with my citibank account, which is the same, but do I need to? It's so stupid. 9 hours of updates to go!

I'd say a good 75% of us made it over, those that didn't quit or jump at least. Economy's slowly steadying out, but still falling. Only thing not falling is Ancient currency, still climbing a bit. I'm in |zEUs| now, so if that says anytihng for my patience, I can deal with Aeger and Taberif at the same time now.

Well, i hardly would have to worry about anything HNM wise for quite some time. If I get into it at all. When I actually start playing I'll see how much of it I can stomach. Square doesn't want money, it's the only possible conclusion I've come to at this point. Retaining your ability to play the game is now the new game. If you're lucky you get a dorp. Pretty soon they will refuse all credit cards and switch to a wheat-pennies-only policy.

Lol you're an idiot. Diabolos is a dead server, and botting has been happening for years. You need to pay attention to the server you're on.

I would definitely recommend going to a merged server. Even on Odin, though, I still see new players or new accounts popping up here and there that are going through the missions and quests, so as long as you're diligent, you'll probably be able to get them all done. My character is about 8 months old and I've been able to clear ZM and CoP, get up-to-date on WotG, and am nearly done with ToAU. If you play for more than a month or two, then I would also recommend getting the addons (barring amazing gear in all slots being released through the version updates), as the gear from them provides a great stepping stone to pieces that you need to put in more time to get.
