    Emulators on mac

I've been trying to get a friend an snes emulator and zelda but they have a mac and macs are terrible. I got them zsnes for mac and it loads ok but the rom doesn't load at all. Is something wrong with the emulator? Or does it need another rom file type? It doesn't even show up as a usable rom unless you hit "show all file extentions" and then it's just blank. D:

    Any ideas?

doinitwrong...(what you're doing wrong, I have no idea).

Plenty of mac emulators that work fine.

No issues using ZSNES on mine here.

I don't know anything about mac stuff and it's not mine so I don't want to install random other stuff on it. ZSNES seems to work fine, its letting me set buttons and what not but the rom doesn't work for some reason. The rom works great for me on pc so maybe it's that? Does the file need a different extension or something?

I downloaded it and just ran an SNES rom fine...there's no special OSX roms or anything.

If ZSNES is giving you problems just try another emulator.

I tried a few different versions of SNES9X but I don't even know how those are supposed to work and I couldn't get them to do anything at all. Tried a few versions of those for different oses and stuff and no dice. zsnes at least opens and promts to pick a rom file, it just doesn't show the .smc as a valid option and didn't work when it was loaded.

Is it a really old mac with uses powerPC instead of intel chips? and you're trying to run X86 code on it?

If not, than I have no idea, since you've made this post I downloaded ZSNES, SNES9X, Silhouette, and BNES and they all ran just fine.

I don't know the OS on it. It looks like the kind I use at work so it's new-ish. It is also a laptop macbook something or other.

Well what extention do you use for your roms? Are they .smc also?

    .smc inside a .zip.

I'm trying to be helpful but right now we're at

"I need help! this program won't run/read X file, I don't know what kind of computer or operating system I'm using... LHEP!"

I'll try to put it in a zip next time I get to use the laptop. That's also the problem, it's not mine so I don't know any of the info lol. Next time I get to fuck around on the computer I'll let you know.

If it matters, I downloaded ZSNES OSX version 1.51 for INTEL processors, works exactly like it should

First, if you're on a mac get SNES 9x. Should be able to open the roms as .zip images as well. If your buddy has a wired 360 controller, he can also download the Xbox 360 Controller driver by Colin Munro, and use it along with SNES 9x to have a controller.
