    Vagrant Story

    One of SE's not-so-Final-Fantasy RPG's. I found its a love or hate type of game, but I love it. Despite the slow transitions to menu's, which made the game feel a tad clunky since you're kind of always swapping weapons, the gameplay and story made me love this title.

    I'd love for a sequel but its been so long I have my doubts this will ever be touched again ; ;

    I just beat it again today and I continue to be flaggerbasted that after seven years, there has not been a sequel to this incredible game. Especially strange is that it takes place in Ivalice but it was not mentioned in the recent barrage of Ivalice related news. C'mon, SE ; ;

    I don't know a damn thing about Vagrant Story, but I overheard some ls-mates talking about how SE was making a sequel to it but then halted the project and turned everything they developed for it into FFXII. I don't know how Vagrant Story plays, but they were saying how FFXII really felt like a new VS in a way. *shrug*

    Think of an action RPG done in the style of FF12 but with a gigantic city filled with rooms to explore, powerful monsters of darkness to fight, weapons you can create (8 different types with special gems to attune them to elemental and race weaknesses) and an incredible plot involving a young Riskbreaker named Ashley Riot following the immortal head of a religious cult through a city of death called Lea Monde while discovering his very past may be a lie and becoming involved in a power struggle between 'holy' knights of the Cross and the cult leader Sydney for control of a dark and infinite power that awaits at its heart. It has one of the finest plots every written and translated. Geez, you must play this game. Its one of SE's only nonFF games to ever get 40/40 in Famitsu and it really shows.

    PSc Also has tons of references to FF12 and FFT.

    I love the language and feel to the games storyline. Sometimes it got tedious, but it always felt epic fighting a giant dragon somewhere haha. You have to play through 2-3 times to get 100% completion too. I made it to the end of that optional dungeon but died on the last boss, and I dont think there were many saves if any at all through the whole thing >_>

    FF12 would've been a spiritual successor to Vagrant Story in a lot of ways, notably graphic design. I never really got into Vagrant Story but everyone always said it was awesome. Never played it for more than a couple of hours.

    The dude that designed the characters and gameplay did the same for FF12. When you compare Ashely to Vaan or Balthier to that one dude who's name I can't recall right now, you can see the similarities.

    But yea, great game. And a very challenging one at that.

    There are now rumors a new game in the Ivalice Alliance will be announced this week. Please let it be Vagrant Story 2 (the ending hints strongly at a sequel)!

    I can see how its a love it or hate it game, but overall the replay value is great. Its one of those games you can pick up anytime and mess around with for 2-3 hours and its refreshing to play.

    Would be nice for a sequel but I would rather not be disapointed

    Guildenstern? He's the only other guy I can think of besides Sydney and Rosencrantz. Rosencrantz's one piece leotard thing really irked me throughout the game though >.>

    There were alot of characters in the game that had so little development though. like Guildensterns lady friend, all the named knights that you fight out of no where.

    Music is stellar for the game, I was quite excited when they announced who was working on FF12 :D

    I love the traditional/rustic/medieval feelings to the game.

    Warrior Priests, Bishops, Knightly Orders, etc.

    Those kinds of storylines and plots get me excited.

    Probably been pointed out dozens of times elsewhere but in several of the Bestiary entrances they quote a person named Merlose, who was the chick you spend all of Vagrant Story sorta rescuing.

    Great game. This, Legend of Dragoon and legend of Legaia deserved a sequal. But after all these years I doubt its coming....although a possible remake maybe.
