Got into an accident today...

Long story short, I'm behind a Mercerdes ML waiting to make a right turn. Traffic is completely clear, the ML starts to pull off, so I take my foot off the brakes to roll off too. As soon as I'm about to put my foot on the gas, the truck brakes hard. I bump into them.... Still no traffic coming.

Man and woman hop out, I hop out and ask if they're ok. She responds I need your insurance information... her husband began snapping pics on his phone. That's fine, then she wants to call the police, that's fine too. Although there was no reason to call the police as there was no damage to either car

The tow hook covers that i circled in white popped out... That's it. (not their car btw, just example)
W/e... Police gets there and facilitates the info exchange as well as giving us his badge number and a case number. She asked him if he was going to fill out a police report, he says no because there is no major damage and no one is injured.

Fast forward 3-4 hours later and I'm hearing from the insurance company that they're both claiming back and neck injuries. My dad also said I should've taken pics as well because they could possible go home and start banging up the truck more to make it look worse.

My question is should I try to take this to court or something, because if they would've just told it like it was to their insurance company or whoever, I would've been cool. But now they're fucking lying out the ass. I should be able to get a statement of some sort from the officer saying that nobody was injured and stuff right? This accident maybe happened at literally 3 mph. I think once the lady found out I was a chauffeur that she could get big money out of the company...

I have no real experience with anything like this so I wish I had better advice.. The officer should be able to help you in some way here, the fact that there's no damage to the car when the police were there shows that nothing could've really happened to them, I'd think.

I'm thinking if they try to fuck their car up more, then take more pics. The pics would have EXIF data on them, showing the time difference. Also the car I was driving has no damage, the License plate has a whole in it from connecting with her tow hook square thingy that was under the cover. That's about it.

She rolled kinda far into the street after I bumped into her to make it look like well... I pushed her into the street. My logic is, clearly there was no traffic or else she woulda mashed on her brakes even further to avoid hitting traffic. She rolled maybe another 30-40 feet to make it look worse than it was. Since there was no traffic, why the fuck was she hitting her brakes to begin with. I think she did it on purpose. I'm so mad I could punch a baby ~_~

had a similar thing happen to me awhile back, but it didn't do shit for them and just caused another accident..
was following 2 friends, one of my friends in the front of us was behind a miata that just slammed his brakes from 50~ mph to a complete stop, not to take a turn or anything, probably to do something like what these guys are doing. friend in front swerved into the other lane, other friend in a truck directly in front of slammed his brakes, and missed 1st car only because he swerved around, and then i ended up under the bumper of this big ass truck. shit sucked, guy who caused it by slamming brakes just drove off and i had to deal with thousands of dollars of repairs

There are suck ass people out there who will try and pull strings to get their way in an accident. Last year I ran a stop sign and t-boned a minivan that could have easily gotten out of the way, but oddly enough slammed on her brakes and watched me come at her. By the time I actually hit her, I couldn't have been doing more than 15mph...

Long story short, I put a small dent in her door and I totaled my car, but only totaled it because I had been in an accident a few years prior and fixed it with epoxy. The lady ended up claiming that I (basically) destroyed her body (she wasn't injured, the first thing I did was ask her if she was okay and she said she was perfectly fine). When the policeman showed up, she started crying and limping. She ended up suing my insurance company and made major bank.

I got rear ended on I-75 near Cincinnati by a huge Caddy SUV a few years ago, whipped my neck so bad my glasses ended going from my face to my back seat and I didn't claim injury.

The case is on file. And he has the officers badge number, who he can use as a witness to there being no damage.

The couple were stupid for calling the police. If they actually wanted to get something from you, they should have just asked for your info and took off. Then they could smash their car and claim anything they wanted.

Man, I get in the same situations all the time. I'll be behind someone waiting to take a right turn. I'm looking at on-coming traffic and notice nobody is coming, so I make the judgment that the guy will pull in. Sure enough I turn my head as the guy hits the brakes for no apparent reason. Pisses me off because sometimes I'm caught totally off guard.

You should be happy they were stupid enough to call the cops on that. You'd be fucked if you just gave them your insurance and walked away with no evidence. Hell, those bumpers are meant to withstand a good 5mph bump. I bet those covers just pop right back in, too.
