    PS2 USB adapter

Probably should've done a bit more research before I bought it but I picked this one up off Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details

I'm running Windows 7 and it won't recognize the device. I think it should be categorized as an HID, but in my device manager it's just there as "Unknown Device" and is listed under my USB controllers. Is there a driver for this that I need?

PS2 HDD isnt formated in NTFS or FAT, so Windows natively cant read it.

Tried looking around real quick, but you can search things like "ps2 hdd on windows", etc.

    Maybe this will help http://sksapps.com/index.php?page=hd.html

Uh, it's a controller adapter there.

Anyway I use the exact same one with no issues on Vista, which is odd that 7 can't pick it up because from my knowledge it uses generic drives only.

You likely need a driver. According to this page, and if the picture on Amazon is accurate, it's probably a Mayflash product, so check here for something that might work.

Unfortunately from what I understand, it can be a bigger erm, pain in the butt..to get a ps3 controller working on Windows than it is to get a adapter and use a PS2 controller. (Correct me if I'm wrong.)

What brand is it? Check the package. If they have a webiste you should be able to find drivers for it. FYI I use this on Windows XP with no problems, haven't tried it on the windows 7 machine yet..

If you can find your product number on the device, there should be a Win7 driver for it there. I use the Super Joy Box 5 Pro from them, which has 4 ports, and supports vibration and pressure buttons.

It's easy enough to get it working, the drivers are just terrible.

This. I went back to Logitech controllers after fumbling with PS3-On-PC nonsense.

I have gotten three that look exactly like that and they are all recognized by Windows 7 right away. I suspect it is not a driver issue, but a wiring issue. If you aren't going to return it, you might as well pull it apart and make sure that the 3~4 wires from the plug are connected solidly to the board.

Those things are pieces of shit, and I have had to repair mine twice now. They show up as an Unknown Device and it say the driver has failed to install when one of the leads comes off.
