The woman who feels she has to assert herself by acting the cut-throat bitch to everyone, especially the men. I can't believe the crap I deal with here at work with some women: the know it alls, the I'm right and you're wrong type women, etc. etc.

Well, where I work there are a bunch of different types (dur).

1. We have that one, "her way is the right way."

2. Others are just too territorial and feel threatened when a new chick starts to work. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if they kept it to themselves, but I detest them for talking to me about it.

3. And, oh boy, there's the one with the crappy boyfriend/friends and use others (such as me) as their shoulder to cry on. I usually nod my head in agreement while I think about other things.

Thank god my supervisor is hella cool though (a lady).

The worst offenders I've encountered have been in government offices. Predominantly women working in administrative positions who are in their 40s or 50s, as far advanced in position as they possibly can get and just fucking determined to make sure that the pace of business goes as slowly and as rigidly as possible. The only thing they have control over is the flow of administrative documents and regulations and by god do they make sure everyone knows they have power in that regard. I've had very insightful briefing papers and policy position papers returned to my desk before going out to their intended Director or ADM because they weren't in EXACTLY the proper format, and been harangued for instead of following an inanely long chain of administrators to solve a problem with a contract I went right to the contract manager responsible and fixed a problem in 2 hours instead of 2 weeks. In my own bitter and annoyed opinion, the reason why government bureaucracy moves so slowly isn't the executives, analysts, or professionals - it's the lethargic administrative and clerical staff bogging everything down with miniature details of little relevance for internal business.

One of my bosses is exactly as described in the OP. I could make the joke that I got back at her by sleeping with her daughter(because I did). But to be honest much to my suprise she actually thought I was a pretty good guy for her daughter when she found out we were together, it's actually made her way easier to deal with at work, even after we broke up.

I work for my mom. People ask me why she acts like that in the office.

My reply: Some women are just mean, assertive, cut-throat and bitchy. My mom just happens to be one of those people. It's not a switch that she turns off and on, she's like that all the time.

Cool story:

Co-worker Robert calls other co-worker Bill an "Ahas" (Cryptic for Asshat, nubs) and Bill promptly, jokingly tells Gamble (name of the female boss) that he was called an Ahas by Robert. She asks "did you deserve it?" he replies "yes" and she says "Ok, then". Quite honestly, she's the coolest boss I've ever had (partially due to the fact of being one of the only ones I've ever had, lol)

She's also cool about joking around with us and stuff. She's a Professor and we work under her on papers and research and stuff but she's extremely fun. I hope I can keep working under her until I'm done with Graduate school if I decide to go that far, and on my doctorate if I go crazy in the next few years. :D

I can imagine having a female superior or co-worker might suck in some cases though, especially when they're in the position of having to prove their worth because they are already looked at with a critical eye.
