I just got my Goliard body so now I have a question.
Goliard body for most non-enfeeble casting, or continue to use Duelist Body?
Conserve MP +5 and Haste 4%
Vs
Enhanced Fast Cast.

Enhanced Fast Cast.
-10% spellcasting time/5% haste for recast versus 0% fast cast/4% haste/conserve MP +5/+42HP/MP and some -enmity I believe?
I'd use Goliard Body over AF2 probably.
I'd use Fast Cast for SSkin and hmm Aquaveil (lol...) over Goliard.
obviously start casting the spell in AF2 and swap to Goliard before it ends..
I see some posters on this forum with -enmity sets but RDM shouldn't really have a need for a lot of it imo unless they are in some sort of emergency WHM lacking situation dropping Cure4s like candy. I would keep fast cast unless it's something where you are constantly struggling for MP for some reason. Especially for hastes and refreshes you want max cast/recast but I guess for cures it's just what you feel works best for you.
That sounds like a win.Originally Posted by Judai

That is the protip. Pretty certain Conserve MP is when it fires.
Goliard isn't as amazing when you have Duelist's tabard.
On the subject of -enmity, I macro in any -enmity gear I can hold (inventory hi) during cure4, because a monster eating my face isnt worth the faster casted c4 when the situation arises that I am forced to overcure (like a low man situation or lone healer situation).
If I had goliard, I'd probably just use it for convert and cures, maybe try it on haste and refresh.
Fast cast is awesome.![]()
It's really situational.. I mean... Af2body when casting spells that need to be casted fast... SS, utsu, RR, stuff like that. It's always nice to finish a spell early so you can cure someone who is about to die.
Yeah didn't even think of what Judai said.Originally Posted by AzazaelFenrir
Best way to do it is that without a doubt.
I'd use goliard all the time because 1. i'm lazy 2. a lot of the times the casting speed reduction doesn't kick in until the piece has been equipped for a little while (or so it seems). I'd rather be sure I have the conserve mp equipped anyway, a bit bigger effect since I also have seveneyes/magnetic. one cast speed reduction from AF1 chapeau is fine with me.
Casting reduction is when you start casting with the piece on. Timer reduction is when it finishes.Originally Posted by Leeto
i think i'm a little too lazy to macro in duelist to start and end with goliard, lol
just need to equip duelist then wait 2 or so then swap to goliard, not very hard.
Duelist, Loq., AF1 Hat, some other fast cast piece I'm forgetting.Originally Posted by Seditedi

I'm aware. I'm saying the cast time reduction doesn't kick in unless the piece has been on for an appreciable amount of time (maybe half a second or a second? it just doesn't feel like it kicks in when I swap it right before the spell without a wait), and putting a wait in between the equip and the spell defeats the purpose of equipping the fast cast in the first place...unless you can get really good with timing the macro at the end of your last spell I guess. too much work for me though.Originally Posted by Tricen
Then again, I could be completely wrong and my eyes could be playing tricks on me.
I agree with Leeto, seems the same to me, whereas the fast cast doesn't take effect if its macroed at the same instant the spell starts casting.
If you are so worried about enmity, why wouldn't you start with Duelist's Tabard and end with Crow/Raven Jupon or Hydra Doublet?
gear swap macro, situational, etc.
if you're seriously too lazy, wearing either full time is like, ok too.
