Can MNK/DNC tank a chariot boss?

I'd like to hear about some actual experiences using MNK/DNC to tank a chariot.

I'm already of the opinion that there will be some serious problems with enemy crits for 800, less WS used by the MNK because of TP spent on cures, and more TP spam by the boss because it's landing hits.

However, my friend wants to give it a try. What do you think?

(Edit: Benefits include /DNC healing and /DNC erase from the very start of floor 1 and the conservation of a Prae cell. Other benefits include the /DNC traits on the MNK)

In my opinion he would probably die quickly as the healer's MP ran out and he was unable to keep up healing with TP gained. Greatest conservation of MP comes from the enemy missing. I've found /DNC works well with normal hitting mobs, but fails on ones that hit hard.

It would not be ideal as a main tank, but it is incredibly helpful on floors before a boss. One of the WARs in my group often goes WAR/DNC now, and he can practically main heal all of us if he spammed dances. Even just doing minor stuff like occasional curagas and giving us all endrain is really helpful. Plus he lands steps rather often, even on NMs and bosses.

However if you don't have at least 1-2 other main tanks for the boss I don't think MNK/DNC could work well alone. A chariot can take off a naked MNK's HP many times faster than you could gain it back spamming dances... Which would also end up making the fight a lot slower.

Not saying it's practical, but if you had 2-3 MNK/DNCs meleeing and using def food, it could probably work. The def food would be necessary for LBC or AC. LAC and BC don't hit for that much with normal defense, so they'd likely be manageable with atk food.

In the end though, you'd be sacrificing damage from WSs for what might be marginally less healing. I suppose keeping steps up would help DoT from normal punches though.

Still wouldn't work. The reason you sub nin is not to get hit. These things hit like trucks. Defense food gives a +% of defense so unless you swap all ur gear to defense gear (gl hitting the chariot then), your defense will still be shit. Stick to /nin

I think it could work as a co-tank, definitely not as a main tank though.
As for not being able to hit a Chariot in defense gear, Chariot evasion isn't high so I think you'd be fine to get TP.
MNK/NIN is safer though.
SAM/DNC would work better I think, which has already been mentioned, but I'd keep MNKs subbing NIN.
SAM still has Seigan/Third Eye so they don't lose much by subbing DNC.

Not sure which chariots, but I do know that at least 2 of them need sushi or a madgrial (at least in my experience as a mnk) so I wouldn't say they have low eva. Woudln't work as a co-tank either cause they wouldn't be co-tanking but rather just helping cure. Not rly gonna be able to take many hits from that chariots before rape is declared.

Actually, if you have 3 DD, you can just have one sub /DNC and speed up the kill. He doesnt cotank per say, but he balances out the extra TP he gives the mob with Curaga/enfeebles/erases. It will take a couple minutes off the boss and relieve some stress on the healers.

Mnk/nin Mnk/nin Sam/dnc is a nice trio tank setup, and unless your mnks suck they shouldnt worry to much about the sam taking hate.

The counter+ on the relic is only 5 more than retaliators. I'm thinking with ease may be a tad bit of exaggeration.

And what would be the point of using MNK/DNC and risking epic failure? Not enough gil for shihei?

I can see how it might be nice but why bother?

MNK/NIN is just perfect for tanking chariots.

The dmg of relic has nothing to do with how well you tank, just kills it faster. I was comparing the counter rate of the 2 items.
