Maybe it's the current weather situation (it just fucking snowed all day again), but all the years I've wanted to do it, I think I'm really considering it. It's actually a pretty uneducated decision, which is why I turn to you, BG. What should I look in to? What should I consider (besides the obvious up and moving to another country things)? Is it just some fantastic dream that I should keep dreaming about because it's not as amazing as I think it might be?

My mother (Native Chinese) watches this one news station which provides Chinese news in English (reported from China). The reporters and correspondents are all Native English speakers, Australians and Americans, probably some Canadians too. Even though she prefers to listen/read Chinese, she explained she likes to see the people who leave their home countries to go to a completely new one. I suppose it reminds her of herself who came to live in the U.S. without knowing English or really much of anything about America.

Some of my friends have moved to other countries just because they want to. If you are thinking seriously about it, you should go for it. You can always come back.

Moving to australia is like wanting to be amputated. If you enjoy a luxurious american lifestyle, don't move, everything here is expensive especially imports (due to the fact we're away from the rest of the world), we have a very high cost of living no matter where you go, we get all technology (not just games) many many many months after USA.

On the plus side, our minimum wage is quite nice, and snow doesn't exist in 95% of the country. If you're craving an australian life badly, don't plunge into it, trial it first.
