Question regarding magic use

I saw a Dark Ele making really good use of sleep the other day, spamming it and then hitting the mob for 2x damage. I was wondering if my DRK Skele will ever use sleep? If so, is there a way I can get him to use that over nukes? Sleep > Hell Slash pwnage?

From what I've seen, any mob with the sleep spell can cast sleep once they get it, if their temperment is right. I "think" the temperment you're looking for is slightly aggressive and some form of tame. If the pet has main job DRK, then they'll get sleep at whatever level DRK usually gets it.
However, sleep-> ws'ing is not something that I've ever seen repeated over and over again. Usually I see one of two behaviors. Sleep-> Nuke, and Sleep -> Attack. Sleep Nuke is a really good way to mess up anything that can be slept and takes good damage from nukes, since the nukes tend to do a lot more damage while the mobs asleep. Sleep attack is more of a confused sleep nuker. They cast sleep, then seem to hesitate for a few seconds before hitting the slept mob with a high damage normal attack. Either way, it's good damage.
Your best bet for a Sleep-> Weapon skill type attacker would be to try and get one with AutoRegain. If the WS is almost always available for use, they probably have a much better chance of using it after a sleep.

How do you adjsut temperment and tameness? Is it innate?

You adjust your pet's temperament by giving commands during battles. Sometimes it can take several battles before it changes. Overall, depending on what temperament you started with, it may take a number of battles before you adjust to it to what you want.

You can check your pet's temperament by talking to the left NPC of the two NPCs that are to the right of the cage. The temperament stated by the match announcer is not as specific.


For tameness:

Extremely wild
Very wild
Wild
Somewhat wild        ^ Don't think, kill! & Less thinking, more striking!
Somewhat tame      v Watch your opponent, then attack. & Think, think again!
Tame
Very Tame
Extremely Tame

For aggressive:

Extremely defensive
Very defensive

The commands I listed above are meant to illustrate what direction certain commands will move your pet's temperament. (ex. Give 'em more bite! & Show no Mercy! move toward more aggressive)
