finally starting to wear my contacts more often so I can actually start wearing sunglasses. not sure what my options are. so far I've checked out...

American Eagle: cheap, not the most attractive, but not so ugly I wouldn't consider paying $20 for a pair.

Oakley: expensive, but they look like they're worth it. I don't know if I can drop $90+ on a pair of sunglasses right now. but man, they look so hot...

and that's it, which is why I'm coming here. what kind of sunglasses do you own, or what kind would you recommend BG? after all, it's about that time of year to start trolling for babes on the beach (if you're in the right hemisphere [and if you like babes]).

I have smiths and I really love them $150 for them but they have interchangeable lenses, lifetime unlimited warranty, and they are really comfortable.

If they ever break for any reason, including me sitting on them or something like that they will get fixed or replaced.

@AV above I would not go as far to generalize something like that, I think there are other things that people spend way more money on that makes them much more douchey. And if you start to go down that road you might as well call everyone in this country a douche for spending tons of money on crap when they could be supporting others instead.

Also sunglasses are a safety item for someone who spends a lot of time outside in the summer, they protect your eyes from damage so to me it is worthwhile to get a pair that are comfortable.

taking care of your stuff is not that difficult. I thought the same thing till I got a pair of Revo sunglasses, and I had those things for 8 or so years before they started to get really scratched up.

If you wanna look good, then go for it. But you can do the same thing with knockoffs and spend the rest of your cash on hookers and blow. Your retinas won't melt, I promise.

I hadn't thought about scratches. the way I take care of my glasses is shameful. I'll have to step it up for the sunglasses.

for the record, fuck my eyes, I just want to look good. the thought of UV protection hadn't even crossed my mind, although it is a nice excuse so I can feel less guilty about dropping the cash.

Yeah the majority of people will not have problems but in a day and age where we want to be able to see past the age of 40 and maintain our eyesight sunglasses are a safety item that keeps your eyes from getting damaged by the sun. Specially if you spend a lot of time outside, or conversely if you spend a lot of time in a dark environment and go outside occasionally for breaks.

In this day and age we want to live past the age of 30 and we want our bodies to hold up longer too and that makes it necessary to take care of them differently than humans have for a long time.

I happen to have a friend who has an eye condition that does not effect him in any adverse way right now but he has to wear sunglasses outside otherwise the eye condition will continue to get worse until he goes blind in his right eye. So saying they do not protect your eyes is asinine and a myth.

Edit: Yuri the lifetime warranty does not cover scratches just to be clear. It only covers breakage.

I think I will buy a pair like this for going camping and stuff like that, and a nice pair for walking around town and other activities that are less likely to fuck them up/get them lost. seems like a good compromise. although I can see myself wanting to wear the nice ones (probably Oakley's, I'm already in love with them) all the time.

Look, obviously youmad.jpg over the suggestion you might have spent $140 more than you needed to on your sunglasses. Can't say I blame you. But some of us have actually already made it past the ripe old age of 30 without the aid of designer sunglasses, and my doctor says I'm gonna turn out just fine.

I'm not saying don't wear sunglasses. I'm saying don't buy expensive ones when cheap ones are just as good. But please, share with me another anecdotal story that proves that this is somehow incorrect. I'm on the edge of my seat.

Obviously you mistook my analogy and anecdotal story as rage. I really wasn't on it. I just was saying that sunglasses are good for your eyes, and people waste money and way more useless crap so it is funny to see someone call people douches for spending money on something that is necessary.

Yes expensive sunglasses may not protect your eyes more than cheap glasses but I can think of worse more douchey things to waste money on. Also for me personally The expensive sunglasses are just way more comfortable and if sunglasses hurt my face I am not going to wear them so it was worthwhile to find a pair that fit nice and were comfortable than to worry about spending a little bit of extra cash.

If I have a pair of $150 sunglasses that last me 6-8 years (my last pair at $60 lasted me 8 years) it is cheaper then buying a $20 pair every year.
