    Laptop Issues

So I had to replace the motherboard in my laptop, but now my laptop is having issues.

Whenever I turn on the laptop the fan is running like everythings fine, the lights are on but the problem is the monitor won't turn on (the quicklaunch buttons on the monitor are on).

I thought the problem was because I was using my old hdd but after a hour of the monitor somehow loaded just fine and it booted into the OS just fine as well. After I shut it down though it went dead on me again and now after 3 hours of attempting the monitor still won't boot up.

I made sure all the connectors for the monitor is in secured so I'm pretty sure its not that and I tried holding the power button down to reset the BIOS but still nothing.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

    Thanks

If the monitor isn't coming on at all except randomly, then I would suspect a problem with either the replacement motherboard or cabling. By that I mean, you get no picture from it from the moment you turn the computer on.

If it's cutting off when Windows starts to boot, then it's probably just a driver issue.

I would suggest trying an external monitor if you have one available. That should narrow the problem down to being video in general, or your LCD panel/connections specifically.
If you are getting video initially and losing it, then try to boot up into Safe Mode and uninstall the drivers for your video card. Should force it back to generic VGA when you start up, and you can look for/install the drivers that support the new video hardware.

Another possible thing might be a backlight issue. In that case you would be able to faintly see the picture. I've seen that where the light will occasionally pop on, but rarely stay on for long, which could manifest itself in the sort of problem you've described.
