    MUDs

I just started playing this MUD, never played one before, it's called Avatar. Anyone play any MUDs that they can recommend or offer input on Avatar? So far it's alot of fun and the community is really nice. I got a guy who told me where to go for bots and buffs and stuff, and the leveling system is really complex. If only MMOs were this robust.

I've got like 7 characters I haven't touched in about 3 years. I designed 2 areas in the game as well under the name Yoyo.
My favorite character was a sprite sorcerer called Syn. It got jailed for abusing a loophole in the shadowform system to solo at the Lord level. :D

I used to MUD before XI came around, but haven't touched them much since. Maybe I'll give 'em a peek when I'm not the mood for Aion.

I used to play Aetolia, but that was a long time ago and now a days I only ever log on to talk to people I know.

Wow, surprising, does anyone know of a good MUD client? I currenly have AL Client but I downloaded ZMUD and I'm going to give that a try. Mostly I just want an automapper and support for scripting like autowalking and macros.

Holy jesus, this brings back memories. I remember using ZMUD and TinTin++ for clients, but that was like 13 years ago, so who knows how good they are now. TinTin+ was pretty lowkey but powerful to use with script building, and ZMUD had just come around with its fancy GUI based scripting which was easier on the nubs. I don't supposed anyone played on Darkworld or Apocalypse V?

As I understand it zmud got borked by vista so they came out with cmud which I assume would work on windows 7.

Some of those mud clients have licenses that allow you to use the full version but only on certain MUDs.

Christ, I played on that like 12 years ago.

Way to make me feel old.

My first mud I ever played was dragons gate on AOL when I was 12, the worst part was my dad had AOL setup on a pay by hour basis, I thought he was going to kill me when he got the bill.

Talk of hourly rates reminds me of playing LoRD in dial-in BBSes. Was fun until people started exploiting glitches.

God I have such fond memories of LoRD (post-JENNY). I also played a few MUDs here and there, but I'll be damned if I ever seek one out to play again.

Genocide - one of the first (afaik) pvp MUDs back in the early 90s.
