    Processor

Ok so like I pretty much suck at tech stuff and I have to buy a new computer, ht tp://i 46.tinypic.com/rkamgg.jpg that's what the comp stats i'm eyeing on are but i'm not sure if that processor is good or bad because I know that's pretty much the biggest thing needed but I really don't understand how to tell which are good and which are bad.

For the sake of helping me understand this better anyone know how well I would fair on FPS for something like Aion, Fallout, WoW w/e on high settings?

Horrible processor. If you're eyeing Aion/WoW/Fallout etc.

You mean its pretty much gunna work like a "Intel(R) Celeron(R) D CPU 3.33 GHz, ~3.3 GHz"?
That's what I have been using with 2 gb and a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE.... Its an upgrade though at least right?...

I wouldn't call it an upgrade, unless you're getting it extremely cheap. There are much better options within a small budget that could run those games you listed great.

Have any ideas on what are good cheapish processors that I should be keeping my eyes on? Even a site maybe which would list the best choices if you don't wanna write them out?

What price range are you looking for "just" for a processor. Depending entirely on your price range, there are about 2-3 decent processors out right now which can accommodate almost any of the high-end or current gen games with little to no problems for cheap.

Well the thing is I don't just need a processor but an entirely new Hard drive though picking the processor is the biggest problem for me. I can dish out about 500-900$ for a whole computer.

If you want to keep things on the cheap, but very competitive side. I would highly suggest looking into the i3 line by Intel.

Last I checked most of their processors on Newegg shipped free were $124.00 USD. Some may argue AMD may be better for a budget build. But Intel is still the best for the buck in my opinion.

Well i'm gunna go out and see if there is anything I can just get right off the bat, though I might have to resort to just buying one online. Any legitimate site you would suggest?

Honestly, price to performance AMD is better then Intel. Get a motherboard with an AM3 socket and ddr 2 ram. Get any of the cheap AM3 AMD chips and you have an upgrade path for awhile.

Intel changes sockets like they are dirty underwear.

Digital Storm if you're not planning on building it yourself. Otherwise, Newegg.

Actually AMD processors are slower than a comparable Intel product at the same clock speed because Intel's processors are much more streamlined. Though when you get down in the Celeron/Sempron range it really doesn't make much difference since everything's slow.

If you want to have something fairly similar to what you have now, I'd look at the Intel Core i3/Pentium G-series OR the AMD Athlon/Phenom II. In both cases you'll have integrated graphics available that would be on par with your 7300GS (that can be upgraded to something much more suitable for today's gaming), and you'll certainly see a nice bump in speed from your Celeron D.

I'd go with the Athlon II x3 435 if you was on a low budget. Also there's a BFG 8800GT on Newegg right now for $70 if you need a decent cheap video card. It's way better than the cards currently in that range anyway.

Well this is what caught my eye. Anything important that I should be seeing? It looks alright to me though again i'm not very good with computers specs.

I guess its pretty mediocre for the price if you're looking for a pre built. Just so you know, due to the compact size of the case. You're only going to be able to use "low-profile" videocards.

Well yah I need a pre built since I can't really do this myself. A guy linked a card in one of the user reviews I might buy that later when I can cough up the $ but otherwise thank you for the heads up.

    Also yay 10th post.

It's OK but there's no gaming-quality video and the power supply in that computer (220W?!) will not support an upgrade.

(btw the reviewer who said he's using that machine to play L4D2 in 1080p on a 40" television is a liar.. newegg customer reviews are horrible)

Why can't you do it yourself? Assembling a computer is mostly just matching plugs and screwing everything together with a Phillips head. Most of my class for IT hadn't done any hardware when we got our computer parts on the second day, and without the teacher being involved, we all had working computers we had built in pairs by the next morning. It's not as hard as it sounds. Picking out the parts is a bit of a pain if you've never done it before, but start with the motherboard and make sure all the other parts will fit it and you're good. You shouldn't ever need the strength of a football player or tools to plug something in, or you're doing it wrong.
