    Wii on computer monitor?

My new monitor comes in tomorrow and since it's larger than my TV, I figured I'd Wii on it, too. The only thing is that Wii doesn't do HDMI, I only have component and avi cords for it and my monitor only takes HDMI.

Is there some kind of adapter or something I can get?

Your monitor only takes HDMI, or does it take HDMI, VGA, and DVI? There are Wii VGA cables you can buy if your monitor has those ports.

My monitor has HDMI and VGA. No DVI (The cord it comes with is HDMI to DVI, so the wii would have to have DVI)

would this work? (but no slots for sound?, it's missing the red/white)

    Also interested in alternatives.

I've been looking at TV tuners to do the job, but they seem to either come with shitty software, or are not fast enough for realtime use (re: video games, rather than watching TV), and the majority of them only do coaxial, which means no 480p component.

I'm honestly way too lazy to use my Wii since it's hooked up to my brothers' HDTV which is on the other side of the house away from my computers.

My friend says the combo of these two should work since I have VGA and PC Audio

Audio will work fine via that as that's what I do for my PS3.

Curious about the VGA adapter as I'll order myself one if it's confirmed to work as I don't use the VGA port on mine. That VGA adapter looks like it's one-way though (VGA -> Component) so I'm not sure if it'd work?

What do you use for video for ps3 then? I thought HDMI was audio and video?

PS3 allows you to independently set outputs for audio and video. Video via HDMI, audio via RCA.

Is there any advantage to using RCA separately from HDMI?

Also, now it's got me thinking. My pc speakers are shit. Should I just use my Ibasso d4 Mamba (Amp/dac) and plug into the aux in/out and use my headphones instead?

I can only think of disadvantages to using RCA over HDMI/Optical, that mainly being analog audio signal and 2.1 only, not like either really mean anything as far as the Wii is concerned.

My 5.1 is ancient, only supports 3x 3.55mm cables. Would love me a mixer I could just pass an HDMI through that deals with the audio, and leaves the video for my monitor.

Just got the cord in today. It's not perfect, but it works. I'll take it for 8 bucks. The characters the screen has a minor vibration so it looks like the characters are vibrating, but other than that there's no probs. And w/ SOME models of HDTV (the one I have, in this case and my rl friend's) I get a small input delay on the buttons on smash bros, which does not seem to be the case w/ my monitor, so I'll take this and minor vibrations over the tv any day.

Though, if anyone has any tips on how to stop the vibrating, that'd also be welcome

Some adapters just work better than others. As far as I know, Nintendo doesn't make any first party VGA adapters, so you'll have to end up getting lucky with a third party. Sometimes spending a little more on them will end up being the best option (like Microsoft's VGA adapter vs Intec's.)

I thought the Wii had an official VGA cable sold in Japan, and only Japan.

Source? even if it was sold "only in Japan", no reason why it wouldn't have come up on google search or amazon from a plain person and not a vendor.
