    laptop issue

Ok so to preface this, i am a laptop noob. i'm trying to install windows onto a laptop, and it keeps shutting off on me during the process. at first i thought it was just overheating, but the longer i leave the laptop plugged in with the power off to charge, the farther i get through the windows installation process.

so basically, the battery wont charge, or at least isn't charging more power than it is using while the laptop is on and plugged in.

anyone ever heard of this and know the best course of action?

if my explanation was too confusing let me know and i'll attempt to explain better lol

the laptop shuts off while plugged in and trying to install windows?

Faulty Battery or Faulty Charger? or the DC Power Jack on the computer might be fucked

Yeah... i let it charge a little longer this time and i actually got through the harddrive formatting part and it rebooted to start up windows before it died. after it died i unplugged the adapter right away and tried powering it up, it started to boot up and shut off within ~30secs. i turn it on again and the same.. if the battery is dead shouldn't i not be able to turn the power on at all?

Yeah, if you're battery was dead and no good it wouldn't even start up. I've never seen an issue like this one before though, sorry.

I just installed windows on a friend's laptop for him and the same thing happened.

His power jack was messed up, so power was only being gotten from the battery which eventually died and the laptop wouldn't even turn on (despite the power cord being pushed in all the way). I just had to wiggle the plug halfway out of the jack and it fed power like it was supposed to. Maybe you have the same culprit.

    i'm hijacking this thread.

I have a little similar issue, but not the same one right now.

My laptop battery shows it is fully charged 100%, but when i unplug my power cord, the laptop straight away turned off, and I can't even turn it on back. But if I plug my power cord back, and go to check my power option, it shows my battery is 100%.

And also, I have another brand new battery for the same laptop. The problem is when I replace the new battery into this laptop, it shows there is no battery installed message.

So, will this be my laptop battery connector is start dying? or there will be other possible problem?
