I'm a huge fan of the series, but really skeptical about this. Are those QTE's or some kind of auto dodge prompt? Bullshit. A lot of it also looks very MW'ified. Hope they don't completely abandon their fictional setting for some kind of faux realism Tom Clancy-like story. Wish they'd try for an original story like AC3, sucks they never translated that for NA/EU releases.

AC is all about fortresses with doomsday weapons with a trench-run style weak points and flying aircraft carriers imho. Going from that to the cliche of dodging RPG's in a Blackhawk over Mogadishu is a bit disappointing. I'll get it for sure, but I really really hope it'll still be Ace Combat.

Also: always funny to see people crying about 'betrayal' when certain series jump to another platform, exclusive or not.

Looks like QTEs to me, but they did get a bit more indepth with the whole tailing thing. I mean, it's pretty easy to break away when some douche is following you, maybe this is making it more intense?

What worries me, but is also interesting are the chopper/FPS style gunning they have going. I dunno about you, but I'd like to focus purely on the fighter jets.

And I'm pretty sure AC3 came out over here, but I think they changed a lot from the JP version. I remember playing it as a kid, with the final boss being a jet in some weird ball arena thing.

Assault Horizon takes place in the real world, not the fictional one we've seen in the Ace Combat series.

I've only ever played AC6 but that looks really sweet. I know its a jet fighting game, but the helicopter part looks interesting. I liked the fictional setting with made up wars though. Made me feel like I wanted to win without pissing anyone off 'cause they're the bad guys.

Yeah, I know it did. I had a pirated JP copy from some market stall in Bangkok. It had a lot of cutscenes and dialog, branching paths and different endings, not that I could understand most of it. Was only later that I heard that they cut it out of the NA and EU releases, which seems like a damn shame.

Lame. The fictional war with the super-weapons and ace pilot filled rogue nations is what made the story so interesting. Real war never sees the kind of large scale air combat this series is known for.

Still though it looks like it'll be a fun game, I'll prolly wait for a demo first, and then probably give it a few months for a price drop. Definitely not a day one purchase, but still it would be nice to add to my collection.

ace combat 5 was absolutely amazing, i never got around to playing 6 but from what i gather it wasn't as good. Hopefully this new one will be amazing

As long as I dont hear the word Gracemeria in this one I will love it. I just hated the countries name in the last AC, the game itself was incredible.

AC5. Chopper. Manly tears. If you haven't played 5 or 0, I suggest you go do so. I'm disappointed by the real world story, but maybe AC will make it interesting. I dunno, if it's on the PS3 I'll buy it for sure. The AC series has me by the balls, I'll buy anything they put out...

The only thing I hated about 6 was hearing people talk about angels. Go dance with the angels etc etc, shit makes me cringe everytime.

I dunno, it just seems like helicopters were so weak. I'll give it a chance for sure, but I'm not expecting much from those parts. The doorgunning definitely needs to get out. If I'm gonna shoot something, it's going to be from a helicopter or a jet, not some dude hanging off the sides.

I never knew about it when I played it. So I enjoyed it a lot. Only later I found out about the JP differences, and how much cooler it would have been.
