It's a prequel I dont think it's going to be that weird without Andy as it's before Spartacus arrived in the camp, whats going to be weird is the second season as it looks that they are recasting Andy.

sucks that they have to but the show must go on, how well it will do without andy is TBD. he did a good job and it got progressively better as it went on

The problem I see with it is, if there is even a fraction as much drama and intrigue in the show as was hinted at in that trailer, then it makes all of the events from the first season that much less likely, unless they want us to believe that nobody LEARNED anything from these events.

I mean, when we came into Blood and Sand, everything was business as usual, and then Spartacus comes along and he's supposedly a big deal, but from what I'm seeing in that trailer, it looks like it's all happened before... Wasn't the dual swords thing supposed to be a big deal since only that demon dude was able to make it look not-stupid?

You can't compare them side by side, because without Blood and Sand, we would have absolutely no fucking clue who these people are. The intrigue and drama are more or less the same level as Blood and Sand was at from about the middle until the end. The reason being is that they had to develop some characters. Gods of the Arena was able to skip the development stages for the most part since Blood and Sand had already set it up, and all of the main characters and the setting are the same.
