    Verizon 5g wireless internet

So I was made aware today that our home is now available for Verizon's 5G wireless internet service. I only have experience with horrible crappy ass satellite service from a friend's place in WA. Anyone here who is a gamer have the 5G plan and is it reliable and capable of online gaming of all sorts? I ask because it would save me $30 a month via autopay over the wired connection I currently have- which is reliable AF but man I want to save money right now.

My experience with 5g is that it sucks unless you have clear and direct access to wherever the antenna is. Sometimes its amazing, sometimes it feels like 3g. You got 5g on your phone? Try it out, and if it seems decent than give it a go.

Bad weather can also affect your 5G service. I'd say it's decent... for every day stuff. For gaming that requires a stable connection probably not.

There are two forms of 5G. If you are in a city, you're getting the fast version that needs basically <300ft + line of sight to the nearest broadcaster and you need to move your modem around to optimize signal. I don't think they sell 5G for home internet in rural areas because it's the second form that's basically 1.5x as fast as 4G iirc.

Ok, thanks for the info guys. Steady, reliable connection is what matters most so I'll just stick with what I've got.

Wasn't that already (mostly) the case with LTE? the frequency ranges below 2GHz work well over longer distances and are more reliable while the blocks at and above 5GHz were used as "boosters" for crowded areas to increase throughput for a lot of devices in a small radius.

Wireless and reliable pretty much contradict each other While latencies got quite a bit better with 5G compared to LTE they still can't compare with a decent wired connection, and you don't have to fiddle with reception issues.
