    PUP endgame?

Ok there's a BLU job finding thread (which includes many showing offs at end game) and a COR endgame thread. All i see is a Attachment thread for PUP and well having PUP to level 1 it doesn't really spark my interest >.>

I know some new frames were added this last update and some weapons/equipment. anyone yet has found a PUP use endgame?
(yes i'm waiting for the lolpup jokes and i'm sometimes known to make them too)

I honestly hope some good use can be found for this job. I was intersted in
this new job second to BLU but i am yet to reach 75 (spell hunts > waiting for AF> Crafting my butt off to make gil for melee gear which as a rdm & blm had absolutely none > hunt for rare/ex stuff for BLU). so guys please make me love this job somehow ^^ BLU is 66 gotta find something else to keep me off getting the job i was planning to get 75 on first (BRD) =P

Best I can do is point you back to the Attachments thread. It has lots of info on how the puppet performs using different combinations and testimonials to PUPs effectiveness as we all levelled up and tested it out.

If you're looking to get interested in the job, that thread is the best place for info on all stages of the game for PUP. It's more than just attachment info.

I am firstly more interested in why i should invite a PUP for xp/mission/NM fight. i always gave DRGs and DRKs a chance because i knew what they were good at and what they could do. I make my own parties 90% of the time. and when i see a PUP seeking i think about inviting them but then i have no idea which pty member they could be replacing for example.... so i just pass on them and invite anything else >.>

Perhaps no thread exists because no role exists.

This is kind of true. There's no defining role for an endgame PUP.

Puppetmaster has a lot of roles it can fill, but most of them seem to only benefit the PUP itself.
As for benefiting a party, a PUP can really only attempt to pump out damage and toss in a few Flashes. Unfortunately, in a game based on spike damaging the hell out of everything, "damage over time" isn't so great, no matter how consistent.

Early on, a PUPs damage really adds up and can stay on par with other melees if set up properly. But once you get to level 50, skill ranks start drifting farther and farther apart. 60+ it's a completely different ballgame once again. With full merits I could get Howling Fist at 60 like a MNK, but at 75 I'm still 9 points shy of Asuran and many many more points shy of MNKs hand to hand skill cap.

The automaton's fighting skill is also pretty low (B- I think) and can't be meritted much higher. SE has this strange idea that two gimpy fighters can equal one good fighter. It just doesn't work that way.

So unfortunately it doesn't appear there's a good role for an endgame PUP. They have great survivability doing lower level adventuring with high Evasion and a CureTank, but PUP does not scale well at all when you are facing VT and up. However, I am optimistic about how the Robot side of PUP has been improving recently.

EDIT: There's still lots of testing to be done, especially with the new attachments and elemental slots. Again, this is a good reason to check out the Attachments thread to really learn about Puppetmaster.

Sshhh, don't let all the Ninja tanks hear that - they're still living in disbelief.

    um... what's confusing you?

    Axe-burn
    Mana-burn
    Rampage
    Asuran Fists
    bone parties
    Kirin zerged in 98 seconds
    WS macro swaps
    Sidewinder
    Lvl 70+ Blood pacts
    Double Minuet
    Sneak/Trick Attack WS

Just some examples of spike damage dominating how the game is played. Dragoons have historically had the same problem. Their WS couldn't put out the numbers that WARs and MNKs could, but ToAU with all the flying mobs has helped that somewhat.

When it comes to meleeing and doing damage in a party setting it's most effective and safest to blast out thousands of HP in damage in one shot, lose a few shadows, and repeat. PUP can't do this, so as a melee it falls short.

    that reminds me,
today I went to Best Buy because my mom was afraid somebody would try to sell her a computer when she went to drop off the recovery discs for her desktop ANYWAYS THE POINT IS

This guy in a leopard jacket, buzz cut head, black velvet-esque jeans with the big emo belt, and fucking bright blue shoes walked infront of us in the parking lot and we just started laughing and when he asked us what I told him my mom was messed up in the head and I was only humouring her.

    :D

Pup has a role in endgame on pretty much anything. I've tried it. It is far from useless but not exceptionally useful either. It is just not that impressive in whatever role it picks. It can DD well but not enough to make it an alliance favorite. It can support with enfeebling skills but the nuke potential is not impressive. The SS frame is pretty poor on high def mobs. It is a job in progress that has a lot of potential. Each update has improved it greatly. All we PUPs can do is be patient and enjoy a shunned job that will one day have its glory.

    (?)

I stand by "no thread exists because no role exists". Being a job that can do everything but nothing well means another job that specializes in that area outshines it.

It brings nothing to the table, therefor it is useless.
