I just recently started an Assault group, and I've been keeping track of everyone's points manually. Once I actually knew the exact number of points someone had (by restarting their count at 0 after they rank up), they've been able to rank up exactly when they hit 25. But at first, when I had them talk to Abquhbah to get the "approximate" count, it wouldn't work, even if they "should have" been over 25.
Since starting to count points myself, a couple people have checked their Mercenary Assessment, and he's given a message from a different point group as it's listed on FFXIclopedia. For example, I knew for a fact that someone had 6 points, but Abquhbah was giving the message FFXIclopedia has listed as 10-14. Right when we started, one member had only ever won one Assault (meaning they had to have at least 5 points), but their assessment gave the message listed as 0-4 points.
Check the Discussion page for Abquhbah on the wiki as well, it's all people complaining that the list is inaccurate, I don't know why it's still there. I should probably sign up and remove it or something, it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to do it.
