Assault rank up glitch?

So I just got Sergeant Major promotion 2 weeks ago and I haven't done any assault up till yesterday.

I did 2 new assault on Sergeant Major : Defuse the threat and Lost and Found
Defuse the threat... I did it with 3 people.. I think we only got to defuse 3 bombs total (I am not sure, I only defused one.. the other 2 might have diffused more than I expected) and it was a win, I should get 5 points for rank up right?
Lost and found, simply, we ran out of time, so this one should be 0 point.

Yet, after these assault, I talked to abquhbah and got the message
"At your current pace, you'll be doomed to a meeting with President Naja's spiky “friend”. which corresponds to 0-4 points range

edit: I mean it's kinda too soon to call it a glitch. If you do all 5 SM assault and you still don't get rank up CS then that is something to trip over.

I've come to the conclusion that the 25-point system isn't exact. It's a good rule of thumb that fits almost universally, but there's something we don't know that fucks it up once in a while.

I've heard similar stories too. I guess the short of it is.....wiki's wrong, or maybe it changes from one rank to another.

maybe you get partial points for a fail
like the way you get some assault points for a fail, just not nearly as much as if you win

I've kept carefull track of my win/loss for assaults and everytime i've hit 25 I have received the rankup quest. I have never hit 26+ for any rank. A loss does not give you points toward it.

Granted i've never done Nyzule isle investigation or the other 'assault' like missions so i cannot tell if those count.

Well.. if I got partial points, then the first win definitely less than 5 points

the second possibility is I got point penalty having a loss in 2nd assault

The list on FFXIclopedia for what Abquhbah will say for each point range is definitely incorrect (or at best, partially correct). So don't use that as a way to figure out the number of points you have, because it'll probably be wrong. I just recently started an Assault group, and I've been keeping track of everyone's points manually. Once I actually knew the exact number of points someone had (by restarting their count at 0 after they rank up), they've been able to rank up exactly when they hit 25. But at first, when I had them talk to Abquhbah to get the "approximate" count, it wouldn't work, even if they "should have" been over 25.

Since starting to count points myself, a couple people have checked their Mercenary Assessment, and he's given a message from a different point group as it's listed on FFXIclopedia. For example, I knew for a fact that someone had 6 points, but Abquhbah was giving the message FFXIclopedia has listed as 10-14. Right when we started, one member had only ever won one Assault (meaning they had to have at least 5 points), but their assessment gave the message listed as 0-4 points.

Check the Discussion page for Abquhbah on the wiki as well, it's all people complaining that the list is inaccurate, I don't know why it's still there. I should probably sign up and remove it or something, it doesn't seem like anyone else is going to do it.

Has anybody ever gotten the 5-9 message with 6 points? Has anyone ever NOT gotten the 0-4 message with 5 points?

Maybe just the point boundaries need to be adjusted.

How hard is it to count your points? I'm SL and I've never spoken with Abquhbah to figure out where I stand... and I've always hit promo at 25 pts on the dot.

You mean less?
if 5 is the minimum you can get from new assault success and 1 for repeatable success, then you should have
4x5 + 5x1 = 25

Had a similar experience. Abwhatever gave me the 20-24 message, I repeated a mission 5 times but his message didn't change and I didn't receive the rank quest. After completing the mission a sixth time I received the quest.

well i suppose, but i was more on the idea that it takes more points to rank up, and abuquhs rank up system is scaled differently

I got my promotion quest with 2 extra new win (wamoura farm raid and azure experiments)
so probably...

Anyone know the details for Nyzul Isle? According to Wiki, you get 5 points for each new set of 5 floors, but I've had 20 floors in the last 10 days (30-40 and 50-60), and last time I checked (just after floor 60 win) Abquhbah gave me the message for 10-14 points. What's up with that?

It's 5 points for the first time you complete any set of 5 floors at all.

Every complete after that, whether or not it's a new set of five floors, is worth a single point.

Yea I never trusted the messages. Its really easy to just track your points manually. I do it as a grid with talley marks per assault, then a 'per rank' points at the bottom. This way I also see which assaults I like, dont mind, refuse to do since I cant note them in the box.

Just remember that when you do the rankup your reset to 0.
