Subtle Blow setup on Long-Bowed Chariot?

After several failed attempts at Long-Bowed Chariot, I'm looking to try something a little different - at least on my end.

Typically, I go MNK/NIN and melee with a NIN/DRK and NIN/WAR bounce hate. I provide steady damage with the following setup:

    Weapon: Destroyers
    Ammo: Tiphia Sting
    Head: Walahra Turban
    Neck: Peacock Charm
    Earring: Brutal Earring
    Earring: Ethereal Earring
    Body: Shura Togi
    Hands: Melee Gloves
    Ring: Toreador's Ring
    Ring: Sniper's Ring +1
    Back: Amemet Mantle +1
    Waist: Black Belt
    Legs: Byakko's Haidate
    Feet: Dune Boots

    Food: Coeurl Sub

Unfortunately, I frequently need to back off from the mob, if TP spam vs MP usage becomes an issue. Of course, the longer LBC is alive, the more opportunity for things to go wrong - which they pretty much have - be it at 2% or 50%.

I've been toying with the idea of going in wearing something like:

    Weapon: Destroyers
    Ammo: Tiphia Sting
    Head: Melee Crown
    Neck: Peacock Charm
    Earring: Brutal Earring
    Earring: Ethereal Earring
    Body: Arakan Samue
    Hands: Melee Gloves
    Ring: Toreador's Ring
    Ring: Rajas Ring
    Back: Amemet Mantle +1
    Waist: Black Belt
    Legs: Melee Hose
    Feet: Dune Boots

This would give me a total of 48 Subtle Blow, including job traits. From what I understand, the cap on Subtle Blow is 50. I could get equip Hades Sainti and hit 55, then replace Rajas with Sniper's +1 or Melee Crown with Walahra Turban or Optical Hat - but I would think Destroyers would prove more beneficial than the extra 2 Store TP.

If I can get away with subbing WAR, I'll still have 397 attack without food, songs or berserk.

    Applicable Merits:
    Hand-to-Hand Skill: +16
    Kick Attack Rate: +4%

The question at hand though, is would this be worth it?

Nynja is right, didtch the nin/war from fighting LBC, have him just spam debuffs, and if homing missiles goes off, he will be next on the hate list after voke/warcry, untill you guys get hate back, then he backs off and repeats the process.

Subtile Blow is not in the Game to make MNK and NINs TP they give to the mobs super low... its there to prevent them beeing uber suck at giving TP.

ur better off with DD MNKs with haste and BRD song of minuet and march, the faster you kill , the more effeicent u can do inside salvage , our group got to the point of killing him withen 9-11min , this leaves hell alot of time to finish mad bomber along with some react. rampart.

Again u shouldnt use more then 2x melee on chariots , others watch from far away and yes provoke alone with warcry can get hate from nothing. the NIN can kuryami blind him if he which since MNKs dont have -evasion gear and has a fair amount of evasion+dodge.

Personally we've found Madrigal+Meat+March better than other setups.

You could also give penance a go. Not the same situation, but with 2 mnks on a marid in the assault marids in the mist it helps cut down on mob WS very noticeably. Though I'm not sure the opinion penance from most endgame players so I guess I could prepare myself to be laughed at.

If you cant handle the AOE attacks from LBC with 2 melee whacking away at it, theres another problem at hand.

Tried it out tonight, worked like a charm.

Killed LBC with 10 minutes to spare.

You guys saying you're using attack food and accuracy is no problem. The 3 times I tanked LBC as MNK I used Sole Sushi, because I was assuming it's needed to keep the acc up.

How is the accuracy without Sushi? And since meat seems to work: Anyone tried using Tacos? Would it cut down melee hits from LBC by a significant amount?

Much moreso than usual. Once you hit about 420ish defense, his hits start getting pretty manageable. Crits will always be high though.

If you have problems stunning Homing missle, the fight is always going to be a little messy. And if you're gonna ninja tank it through that, I'd bring at least 1 ranger for shadowbind so ninja can grab hate again.

Re: Subtle Blow setup on Long-Bowed Chariot?

If you tank it in a position that lets it use homing, then it'll be messy (or if you don't erase bind so quickly to reposition).

As far as defense, chariots are quite low level for bosses, so defense tanking is actually quite effective, especially given the utsu wiping nature of their common WS. Not that you can't utsu tank, you simply can use whatever style of tanking you want/your setup can do best, because there is no massive level correction making them hit hard regardless of ratio.

Clearly the solution to both attack and defense needs is Hydra Kofte.

.. Now if there was only someone crazy enough in my shell aside from me willing to do back-to-back Salvage runs so I could actually get use out of a 3 hour food.

haha, that's not a bad idea, now if only I could get everyone to buy their pass prior to salvage day...
