Sony is discontinuing the 60gb model that was just dropped to $499 and instead will ONLY be producing the $599 Motorstorm bundle. Clearly; they're trying to inflate demand by saying "OMG, it's going to be out of stock soon buy it now lulz!"

This shit really pisses me off but honestly; what other choice did they have? So much for a REAL price drop; this reminds me of the release of the PSP when they took out all the pack ins and released the core pack instead of lowering the price.

Yea, I looked into buying the 80GB version, simply because of the game releases soon, MGS4 next year too & Unreal Tourn. However I see the trick theyre doing, kind of funny, lol.

The point is that is isn't a "Price Cut" it is a the same thing car lots and clothing stores do when the new models come in. They had some good momentum going from E3, and then they shoot themselves in the foot like this.

They dropped the price on the 1 gig PSP bundle after Christmas and discontinued it(As well as the Value pack) so they could release the PSP Core system for the same price; it's certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

Why not? I believe the PS3 version will support mouse/keyboard and mods. Better then upgrading a PC.

Sem's video link is right. You can find the video on Gametrailers now too. Kaz's words are crystal clear, They realized two SKU's didn't work in the US so the 20GB got the axe. The 100$ off the 60GB is to clear out retailer inventory because production of the 60GB has been stopped. Once they are sold out there will be only ONE SKU, the new limited backwards compatibility 80GB bundle for $599.

Obviously Sony isn't happy they are going to get flack for this, but they are the ones can't keep their own mouths shut. They can back peddle all they want and spin the wording to make it not seem so bad, but the cats out of the bag.

If you want to get rid of your PS2 for a PS3, and still be able to play all of your current library for a long time down the road; better get a 60GB if you haven't already some time this summer "While supplies Last~."

This might be in the wrong place but according to the store I work at there will be yet another bundle for the PS3 for $1999.99 to be shipped by the end of 2007/start of 2008. The bundle seems to include a 80 GB ps3 + some 55inch (I think, might have been 45 i'll need to double check) Sony HDTV, but it didnt give many details.
