    DVD-rom issues

At the moment Windows is only half detecting when I put a CD or DVD into one of my drives. It acts as though it sees it and then simply changes the drive name from "DVD-RW" to "CD drive" and then asks me to insert a disk into the drive. I know it isn't the drives fault because it is also happening with Daemon tools. The only thing I have done that might have caused the problem is I recently changed the drive letters in disk management.

I was just wondering if anyone has even heard of this happening. I tried to look on google but almost all of it was just people having problems with hardware and not actually windows itself.

    Any help would be welcome

Make sure its not a blank CD.

Could be faulty hardware, too. I had a similar problem where when I inserted a different CD, the previous CD would still show up in Windows. Only way to fix it was to disable then enable the CD Drive in the Device Manager. Eventually bought a DVD drive and it works fine.
