BG-Wiki Status Update!

Status update on BG-Wiki!

Currently the wiki is down (will be back up shortly after we do some maint.) but is getting a nice upgrade and some more power to get the job done right.

In the short amount of time the wiki was available for public editing, we received approximately 5000 users with edits. At this point we are adding the jobs, job traits, job abilities, and a quest setup with our custom templates.

Editing the wiki for new items REQUIRES the use of our custom templates, if you dont know, dont go.

The wiki will have memes and silly sections as well as a popular player database (which includes a lot of BG players). We will be less serious about a lot of stuff, and give blunt hints about what things to merit (devotion) and what not to merit (warcry).

We will still include all of the important information required, but we arent going to take ourselves completely serious, what kind of fun would we have if we did that? (see the sage sundi section)

We will be announcing additional admins for the wiki soon, and those admins will be assigned a section to keep it up to date and such.

BG-Wiki is going live hopefully within the next day, we are sorry its taking a little longer than normal, but if you want something done right...

I'm afraid this could lead into a bad thing if it goes into gray area. I mean, Warcry merits yeah, but if it goes too far it becomes more like a guide rather than information where the reader can choose to be dumb or smart with. Just a random concern. Kind of like the whole "doable with # people" conversation that was held in another thread.

Anyways, I'd have to agree with BRP on this one, keep the little jokes aside from real data, you can have an aside to it, definitely game for some lulz, but try to keep the bulk of it clean ^^; unless of course it's a joke page about something to begin with...

I agree with this, as well. I personally prefer a more professional database than one that is "fun." Giving not-so-subtle hints on how to merit a job only confirms the view of BG as "elitist" in a way.
