Account stolen last night at 2:53 AM EST

My LS had just finished beating Tiamat...I decided to head to Windurst and check on my chocobo. Then suddenly I get a POL error saying someone had logged in from another terminal; that very moment I knew I was hacked. Over the course of 4 years of playing, I have never given my account to anyone in game. The person was able to change my password in a matter of seconds, even though I kept trying to disconnect them.

My boyfriend and a few friends tracked down my character when they logged in and saw it running from the Moghouse and towards the Windurst Woods Delivery Box.

The person on my character then met up with various mule accounts and began de-equipping my gear, piece by piece. Noble's, Blessed, Staves, Clubs, etc. (I'm sure they took my other job equips as well.)

So I called SE. They refuse to do anything because apparently my credit card and address have been changed. Even though I verified everything else. (Reg. codes, name, date of birth, etc.) I spoke to a representative where they asked me all sorts of questions regarding my character. They sent off a report and asked for a number to contact me on.

/sigh - GMs won't do shit. Anyone have any advice?

So is people padding their post counts backseat modding and bitching about what's advanced or not when, for the life of me, I can't think of a reason for this section aside from drudging up lost account or cybering/gilbuying drama.

And that would be one of the most obvious changes one would make when they gank another's account.....because SE's customer support does jack shit and never uses some common sense.

I've heard of something like this before. The person called SE back to back for a few days complaining. Their argument was they had their Reg codes and other info and that nobody else could have that info but her and SE eventually reset the password. That's the only success story I have heard though. Hope it works out for you.

I would seriously kill for an alternate log-in for your account, one that's basically a 'public' account vs your main, which I consider an admin account. Public account would basically mean no one could change your info, but fuck around on your character until you boot him off.
(that would make me play FFXI on public networks without worry)

Well im the boyfriend, and considering half my gears on that character id dismiss myself from being a suspect.

Calling SE for the life of me is the most frustrating, mind-numbing thing you could possibly ever do.

Called 4 GMs, 3 of which told me to contact the service / support center. so i call the support center which tells me to relay to a GM to flag and lock the account. Call the GM and he tells me call the police.

I tell the GM that the police arent gonna do jack shit about an online account and he tells me to call the support center ._.

So i call the support center and they tell me because i dont have the credit card information that they cant do anything w/o a legal subpeona.... So for the hell of it i ask how to go about a legal supoena, 'i dont know' is the best response i can get.

So, legal advice or they dont give a fuck. - typical SE.

Meanwhile the most i can do is watch as some RMT clusterfuck sells 4 years of work on the AH site.

There's a tread on KI about this with random disconnects and basically the pattern is everyone is using 360s to play. Someone said there's a known issue where if someone knows your Gamer Tag they can log into your account.

Can't you get your account frozen by attempting to log in multiple times with a wrong password? I remember someone saying they'd done that in the past to stop someone from hacking their account.

It's not possible anymore. :/ It would only lock them out for a while... then it would be a race to who changes the PW faster. They changed it extremely fast. So I'm assuming they had some programs doing that for them as well. And I'm sure everyone knows how long it takes to change PWs. ~~

Id say SE's customer support is like any other companies. Half the people don't want to be there so they give bullshit answers just to get through the work day. Just keep calling and you will get someone who will want to help you out.

The person keeps telling me to take matters to the FBI and Court...and he refuses to believe that it was RMT who did this, when I have proof.... He keeps insisiting it was someone I knew. Even though I've never given my account to anyone. He also refuses to cooperate even though I read to him the card that got billed this month (4 days ago).

Its a PC account.

Ive heard all the stories before about 3rd pt apps and all that bullshit, so we've stayed away from them always.

The person that stole the account is RMT, they had everything setup as soon as they ganked the account - things went up on sale within the hour. even now they are trafficking the items to various mules, stuff will be across internets while SE says contact the FBI about an online theft of data that belongs to them...

Im sure that the person could be part of a corporation of RMT slaves, or it could be a rogue - doesnt matter to me, im about tired of SE employees covering ass and telling me to call the police and say 'my monk/dragoon/white mage/warrior/blue mage' was abducted by an unknown assaillant.

This just in: SE says i need to hire a lawyer for them to release the information. Legal aid anyone?
