Graphics Card Question

It's the GeForce 7600 GS 512MB vs the Radeon 2600XT 256MB, it'll be primarily used for FFXI/WoW, possibly CoD4, and obviously Starcraft2 when released.

No other suggestions please, these are the 2 in my budget and the only 2 I'm considering, no links to newegg or anything, just one or the other. Which do you think (or know from experience) would perform better?

this is going to end up with ATI fanbois voting for the 2600XT and nvidias' fanbois for the 7600GS, and maybe a flame war between the two, I'll need to unpack some boxes but if I still have my 512MB 7950GT you can have it if you pay shipping :bagel:

I'm impartial, the 2600XT scores higher "overall" on tomshardware so I would go with that. I didn't check every one, but the 2600XT did beat the 7600GS on all of the benchmarks for 1600x1200 and 1024x768.

i mainly using geforce card. But i think my friend did bought 2600XT and we did tried it on cod4 which running quite smoothly. But the different is that he bought a 512MB 2600XT or so. >.>

2600XT at the very least it has support for Direct X10. I wouldn't go lower than an 8600GT for nVidia cards at this point.

The 7600GS on toms is only the 256mb version, not the 512mb.

Toralyn, bite Demetrio$ hand off if he's serious about the free 7950GT, get the integrated on the bundle you're buying and slam in the 7950, it'll murder both the cards in the poll.

7600GS is behind the 2600XT by almost 300fps, 512mb isn't going to make it magically catch up.
