The best thing since sliced bread.

Now, using FFXIAH, we can make lists of retards that we never want to invite to our merit parties!

    For example:

    Shitty SAMs: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=14437&slot=32

    Shitty melee: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=13645&slot=32768

    Shitty PLDs: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=12548&slot=32

    Shitty WHMs: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=14436&slot=32

    Shitty RDMs: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=14440&slot=32

    Shitty DRGs: http://www.ffxiah.com/equip.php?id=18088&slot=1

    And so on!

Currently in the process of cross-checking the lists of bad melee items to compile a list of the gimpiest individuals in the entire playerbase of FFXI.

Point taken, but these people are probably full-timing it, unless they're sitting around to town-gear their barspell macro set. <_>

Good idea, but personally I just have a .txt file on my desktop called THE LIST where I keep names of all the morons I exp/merit with. Comes in handy.

A text file? I had (it got messed up when i moved a year ago) a big paper on my wall with a list of names, with "FFXI Fuckers" at the top. Started it when a douche kicked me from a party w/o warning my first time in crawlers nest and refused to show me the way out. (I was 1 level 'to low' for a WHM who was 2 levels below what I was at)

Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

So in all honesty it isnt usually my style to be a complete cack, esp. on Forums, where it doesnt really matter IRL however i found myself mildly perturbed by this post, for a couple reasons. First tho, feel free to search me out on FFXIAH, im there for all to see, i noticed that you were invisible Therin.

    1) Seriously, Gear does not make the player. Sure, i have an Amemit+1, i didnt always. People have to start somewhere, give em a chance. Also Merits can make up for many deficiencies in Gear. Say, for example WHM was my first, I merit STR, CRIT etc in anticipation of melee in future. Now i level a Melee, with hopes of farming better gear but for now much of my worth is hidden. Just one thing.

    2) Dude. I sit in all my full MP+ gear until events start so that after RR, ProV + ShellV i am not too low on my actual MP when i swap into my "Working" set of WHM gear. So you think a Blessed Briault is gimped for a WHM to wear? Fine.

    3) Chausible. Ok, that i have to give you.

I guess the point im trying to make is that even with not the best gear in the game, cus you know all of us camp fafhogaspidocerbesalvagynamis, players who make parties EASIER by being competent and agreeable are not easily identified by their gear status. Dont rule people out because thier 5th job to 75 is not fully geared out yet. You just dont know.

then again , what do i know?

P.S. Part of me has to laugh a little inside because this post is on the newbie thread, and its attitude is somewhat reminding me of something that should be in advanced as it is overly critical of newer, or less leet players.

anyhow take it for what its worth.

Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

I leveled my BRD from 16 to 73 wearing Bone Gear, a weapon and an instrument. I received compliments from people saying I was the best BRD they have ever partied with (I know its not hard to play, but still).

The point is that most mage/support jobs can totally skimp out and be fine (COR/RDM/WHM/BRD). But there is also a correlation between really shitty gear and the skill of the player. Some RDM wearing DEX rings to EXP in obviously has no idea what is going on and should be slapped around and reticuled because its the only way their dumbass is gonna learn.

If I'm not in town gear walking around I'm always in full MP gear, I don't see a problem with wearing blessed briault. And we can't know if they full time it so~

I remember once reading on some shells site that they had an on going challenge to members to do something along the lines of this. Checked your site out briefly and didn't see the thread. Was it you guys or do several shells have challenges like this now lol?

Blessed Briault is not gimp. Sure, every WHM should get a nobles but I guess some people have forgotten how much 500k feels like to someone who is levelling their first job and doesn't have a sky shell.

Blessed briault is kept by almost all WHMs for max MP and barspell set up and frankly it's the best piece you can wear until you have a nobles.

Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

Actually, Blessed Briault and Cleric's Pantaloons provide entirely separate bonuses to Barspells, and the effects of the two pieces stack. Unless you're an enormous gimp, Blessed Briault gives you well over 60 MP, making it superior to even Dalmatica as a "max MP" equip. For it to give 20 MP only, your maximum MP without the Briault would have to be about 300.

Hi, you have no understanding of how WHM equipment functions.

Briault = 5MDB bonus of the element
    Legs = +20 (HQ 22) to resistance

    And last time I checked, +7% to 1000MP is a 70MP boost, not 20.

I don't use my whm much anymore so I sold most my good gear. So I use a friends nobles if I'm ever on it and if hes using it I use blessed body. It makes me just a little less efficient but doesn't make me so gimp I can't do my job.

For potential Whm gilbuying, I usually look upon this equip

Now, I know it has its use, max MP setup probably, and some legit ppl may go out of their way to get one, but frankly, I never understood why ppl would pay such a price for it.

Re: The best thing since sliced bread.

The total lack of comprehension that for some people a noble's tunic is not immediately accessible upon hitting 68 or even 75 is amusing.

Yes, I agree it should be a priority for you to be working on but no, it's not something everyone has.

Having problems with ffxiah at the moment, just me?

As for a healing staff, well it's not stupid for some races and now with the staff strap and /SCH sub it's fairly useful. However Roc isn't exactly overvisited, he's just mean so buying it is prolly a waste of gil.

I have a dryad staff + staff strap on most the time these days. Can macro other straps for MND/HP boosts when you need. I also have a templar mace + Nms Shield +1 and an apollo's but mostly I used dryad and balance my MND setup when I need it. 70 MP and -2EMN is pretty nice but of course the MP disappears fast.

/shrug with most (not all) gear there's a use for it.

I can't stand Vermillion cloaks, that's my pet bugbear. But I got a noble's at 75 and a YY robe for my SMN at 61 (helped someone else camp it for a few days and got it when they were done). I hate the freaking ugliness that is vermy and it's stealing of two slots.

Every ffxiah link in this thread is going here instead for me:

    http://74.54.240.36/

BRD is my main (I know, I am crazy), so when people in my LS are leveling it I uh..."encourage" them to have good gear for it. You can gimp it up as a mage and do okay, obviously better than someone with great gear who doesn't know what they're doing. But to me, that just wouldn't be enjoyable.

However, I will say that on my WHM I use 4/5 Marduk and Rostrum/Goliard feet, because the only time it comes out is for Red vs. Blue and as /BST for CN escort or Hakutaku/Alastor. I had better gear while leveling it, but now it just isn't worth it to keep around much gear that it doesn't share with other jobs. I guess it's sort of the opposite of the "gimp it until 75" mentality.
